Projects from the gallery section of the first chapter of The Best of Instructables Volume 1.
Furniture is made to be general, it's supposed to fit the general need. My need, however, is quite specific! So when I see a piece of furniture that isn't quite doing it for me, or a wall that's a little too barren, I know it's my job make something that will fit me. From redesigning very plain looking lamps, to creating shelving or even hacking together a tool box, these projects are a lot of fun, and very helpful if you're on a tighter budget.
Take apart their furniture, re-wire their electronics; you'll never see IKEA the same way again.

ps they have a high end line and a low end line. so just pay attention....
Not impressed with that... But Ikea I love in general...
The WONDERFUL thing about IKEA is that, as seen here, their furniture makes an excellent and inexpensive jumping-off point for people DIY-ers to express their own creativity and personality.
Also, Americans aren't stupid, we just love greed more than anything else and we'd do anything for money. That's why our economy (even when it's in recession) is still one of the strongest in the world.
And our greediness naturally leads to a need to protect our things...
Which is why we have the greatest and best equipped military in the world.
I love America.
Soon it will be tha same at your places.
IKEA is a pretty much internationally known furniture warehouse, most of the stuff is designed by swedish designers....
I saw a glass table with the glass peice missing and the price tag was 175$ for the metal frame that goes under the big glass!!! i can make that for the price of... FREE!!! with stuff that people throw out on trash day (if i get there before the scrap metal dudes)
I HATE IKEA!!! but i love those swedish meatball they have... XD Also, kids tend to get lost in there!! keep them close!! or someone will put a ridiculously high priced tag on them... lol
