introIKEA Hack-a-Tindra (for total IKEA submergence)

One vital ingredient of a visit to IKEA is the mixed smell of BILLY particleboard and TINDRA strawberry scented candles. With this simple to make device you can lay a cloud of IKEA scent over any space that will make even the hardest IKEA lovers run for the door.
For Platform21=Hacking IKEA we invited artists, designers and the general public to come up with new IKEA Hacks. Anyone can participate.

step 1Ingredients
-IKEA TINDRA strawberry scented candles (or any other scent you like) 3 Euro -IKEA LAMPAN 2,50 Euro -Drill -Pliers -Light bulb. I used one with a concentrated light beam for higher heat -Masking tape.

step 2Prepping the candles
The LAMPAN will fit 9 candles. 1.Take the candles out of the little tin cup. 2.Take the wicks out of the candles. 3.Cut one candle in half. You could just leave the candles as they are but this way it looks nicer in the end as it all melts into one big strawberry scented pie.

step 3Drill ventilation holes
I didn't do much with this but you could drill holes in a nice pattern. It helps to put some masking tape on the lamp first and to put dots in this pattern. You can drill right through and take the tape of later. I just put holes all around the lamp. Take care to leave 2 inch or 5 centimeters at the bottom without holes. This will be your candlewax reservoir. The holes …

step 4Putting it all together
1.Turn the top part of the LAMPAN lamp upside down. 2.Put the candles in. 3.Screw the lightbulb into place. 4.Put it together and switch on. The heat from the light bulb will make the candle wax sweat and eventually it will dissolve completely.

step 5Submerge yourself in strawberry fields
And the good thing (or bad depending on how much you like this smell) is that unlike burning the candles, it doesn't run out. TIP: You could use the top of the lamp to keep your stash of candles. It doesn't get very hot there. I haven't tested this thing on safety so use it responsibily! Don't leave it on when you leave the house.
