Introduction: Improvised Flip Flops Out of a Camping Mat

There are a lot of reasons why you will need to turn a camping mat into some useful improvised Flip Flops.

Note: You only will use a piece of your camping mat, so you can still use it.

For example if you are in holidays on the beach and you need something to drink. Arrived on the shop you read "No shoes, no service". Well go on and make yourself some nice Flip Flops.
Or you are just a freak who doesn't want to spend money on shoes. Or you don't have money to buy you shoes, well here is the Instructable which you will need. (you can also build them out of carton which shop's are trowing away. They are not so comfortable but they work.)

Step 1: The Tools You Will Need

This tools you are going to need...

- a knife (most travellers have one)or some scissors
- a piece of some camping mat
- your feet or some stencil of your feet.(Then you will need the
pencil)

Step 2: Giving the Camping Mat a Shape.

Just place your feet on the camping mat. With the knife outline the form of your feet.

Note: Don't cut exactly around your heel. You will need here a bigger part (it's going to be the tongue of the Flip Flop, which later is holding your feet in place).

To understand it better just take a look on the picture of
step 3.

!!!BE CAREFULL WHILE CUTTING. YOU CAN HURT YOURSELF WITH THE KNIFE!!!

Step 3: Cutting Out the Tongue.

Now cut out the tongue of the Flip Flop.
Just place your foot on the shaped camping mat. Outline now your heel and pay attancion that you leave enough place for the tongue.
On both sides of the Flip Flop tongue I have cut out more less 1.97 inches.

Look on the picture and you will understand the idea.

Step 4: Cutting Out the Connection

Now we cut out the connection between the big toe and the rest of the toes.
It's going to look similar to the shape of a mushroom.

Make also a little hole in the middle of the tongue. It's going to be the hole where we connection goes through.

Step 5: Wear It !!!

You have finished your Flip Flops.

Put them on and enjoy. And don't forget to make one for your other foot.
