Step 8: The Finished Product

You should wait one week before placing the stone outside as it finishes drying and curing. Keep a wet paper towel over it for a few days to give the stone added strength.

This stone was laid at the base of the tree we planted for Hubby's Dad on Father's Day.

This photo below shows how it looks at night. The stars glow for about 6 hours after sundown.

That's really neat. I like the idea of doing it almost upside-down compared with how mosaic stepping stones are done. Does anything need to be added to the cement, like chicken wire or anything, for stability?

No need to add anything, aside from the decoration they are solid cement and if you allow good time for drying and curing they do great. Thanks for commenting Keda.

Absolutely beautiful! And I'd love to do this for my Dad too. OK, so I realize it's more for me. I'm still having a hard time dealing with him being gone. Anyway, I just gotta know, where did you get those beautiful glass glow in the dark stars?

Michaels Craft Store, you can get a box with a lot of stars for about $7
