This was a gift I made for a friend using a medium sized goose egg. It is called In the Doghouse as it is representative of her two English Springer Spaniels, Calli and Aegle. The opening reveals her girls with their heads emerging from a doghouse. The doghouse is stained balsa wood, cut and mounted to Styrofoam for 3 dimensional effect. The dog heads were pen tops from Disneys 101 Dalmatians, repainted to replicate the looks of her beloved pets. The doghouse and dogs were mounted and glued into the egg and rest on a cardboard floor painted green to look like grass. The inside walls of the egg shell are painted blue for the sky and show strokes of green, blue and yellow to represent grass and wildflowers. The toy ball is made from a large wooden bead painted and glued to the cardboard floor. The bone is cut from a piece of Styrofoam. A fine gold braid is used to outline the doggie door. The sign is card stock with computer-generated type. A fine jute thread is used to hang the sign. Gold braid outlines the egg opening. The exterior is painted with a pearlized white paint with alternating carnation pink and lavender paw prints painted at desired locations. The egg is then mounted on the gold stand. My friend displays the piece on her desk at work and treasures it!

I LOVE my egg! My girls have even given it the sniff of approval and a tender kiss. Don has even told some of his buddies about the egg!
