I needed to make another set of ramps for changing oil in my car at another location. I thought I would make this process my first instructable. I have a pair of store-bought steel ramps that I hate to use. The ramp angle is steep and they tend to scoot on you. These homemade ramps are easier to drive onto and give plenty of clearance to gain access to the filter and drain plug. My lumber came from the "Value Wood" section at my local big box store. Total cost was $.98.

Step 1: Materials

2 ea. 2"x6"x4' boards.

Step 2: Cut Your Lumber

Take one of the boards and cut in half at a 45 degree angle, these will be your bottom boards. Take the other board and cut into two 8" pieces and two 16" pieces.

Step 3: Nail Together

Nail or screw the lumber together as shown. I nailed the top 8" piece back about an inch from the edge of the middle board. Done. Driving up on them you can feel the individual boards, 1-2-3. Place in Park, set the emergency brake, then get out and check that your vehicle is positioned satisfactorily. You could add eye screws to them as a means of adding a rope and snap hook to hang them on the wall. Additionally, hex-head screws could be screwed into the bottom for increased 'bite' on an icy surface.
