Sweet idea for a car LCD mount! I was just looking into doing this but was having trouble figuring out how i would mount the LCD. Your instructable definitely gave me some new ideas! If anyone making CarPC's is looking looking for a way to power up a CarPC indoors (for testing purposes) check out my instructable.

So I was looking around Instructables and found a few more people doing these kind of projects, so I ended up making group that's called "Small Form Factor". It's a group devoted to sharing info. on small DIY computer projects and concepts. Please Join if you are interested. This is good in concept but it would be much better if the focal points of your photos were specifically in focus instead of specifically out of focus. Also stand by for the people to write in explaining how unsafe such a computer screen is. They automatically jump to the conclusion that you will be updating your Facebook page while negotiating rush hour traffic. In my business having a working laptop (full sized) in your car is getting to be extremely handy. Specifically there are GPS apps for laptops that are far superior to those from Garmin, and others. Not everyone needs a computer screen readily available, but for those who do, the mounting methods are limited. Your Instructable adds a nice alternative.

I did not think the photos where that bad, I took them about 1am in the rain, but if they are bad enough to deserve a comment I will retake them. I will also add a disclaimer about the dangers as well. This was more of a test to see if it could even fit in the cubholders placement then anything else, I thought this would be more interesting than just sitting it on the top of the dash.

Well the carputer concept for this is to fit the computer into the the space used for the radio. The unit currently runs on Windows 7 on a test laptop, it will then be moved over to a atom based unit. I have all ready made and coded a radio looking cover that runs on Windows SideBar framework that pulls off and displays songs to the radios head unit. The screen is to be used as a Microsoft Surface(yea that MS Surface) with the touch screen interface but the test laptop is already struggling with the Surface programs so I don't think a atom unit could pull it off after all. I have more parts on the way so there will be more from this in the future.

Another use for a carputer, if you are a motorhead, is to install automotive diagnostic software on the carputer and buy the cable that connects the car's computer to the laptop. The connector is located somewhere under the dashboard. Every time the Check Engine light comes on you could see what the problem is, fix it yourself (if you are a motorhead), and reset the Check Engine light to Off.

yea thats one of the ideas as well, but looking into it the software + adaptor is not all that cheap. Chances are is i am going to build all of this, get it to work, then take it all apart and use it on different projects.

its connected to my Touch Pro for the internet when a local Wi-Fi is not avaliable. I would have more put togeather but its been raining for days on end down here.
