Making a cool and fun Instructables robot that doubles as a USB key is easy.

For this project, you'll need:

- One USB key
- AIr drying clay in three colors (yellow, light orange, and red)
- Black Sharpie marker
- Round toothpick
- Butter knife (optional)

Step 1: Assemble Your Materials and Do a Design Sketch

Put all your materials together. At this step, it's handy to make a quick sketch to show how you'll encase the USB key in the air drying clay. Having a good design sketch on hand with the outline of the USB key really helps when you're assembling your robot.

Trace an outline of the USB key, then color in the planned robot in the colors you'll use. For this project, I used yellow, light orange, and red.

Step 2: Make the Robot's Head

Break off about one quarter of your stick of orange clay for the head.
Press it into a long flat rectangular shape with your fingers.
Using a knife along the edges makes a very smooth shape.

Lay your USB key in the middle of your clay rectangle. Make sure you position the clay so that the USB key will fit into a computer.
(It's good to test it on your computer at this stage.) Wrap the clay around the USB key and smooth it into a square shape.

Now you're ready to move on to the body of your robot!

Step 3: Make the Body of the Robot

Take a full stick of yellow clay, and break it into two equal parts.
Smooth each half into two roughly identical bell-like shapes.

Put one bell shape on either side of the USB key below the orange head.
Smooth the two shapes together and seal around the edges with your fingers to make a robot body.

Step 4: Make the Arms and Legs

Divide the orange clay stick into four parts.

For the robot's arms, make two half oval shapes and flatten the tips of each arm.

For the legs, make two cylinders and flatten them into rectangles.

Attach the arms and legs to the robot's body, smoothing the connection points with your fingers.

Step 5: The Robot's Eyes and Ears

Roll a small amount of red clay to make the robot's eyes.
Press the eyes onto the head.
You can make a small indentation in the middle of each eye with the toothpick to create pupils.

For the robot's ears, make one larger round ball, and cut it in half to make two ears.
Press the ears onto each side of the head.

Step 6: Toothpick Antenna

Take your Sharpie marker and color your toothpick black all over.

Snap the toothpick in half, and press each half into the center of the robot's ears.

Step 7: Finishing Touches With the Sharpie Marker

For the final step, draw the markings with the black Sharpie on your robot to look just like the Instructables Robot logo.
I don't have a clue what it's good for but that's a nice robot. 5 stars and my vote.
It looks great! You could just add some more minor details and make the shapes nicer and smoother... but it still looks great ! Well done! <br>You have got my vote!
Cute Robot!
