Introduction: IoT Based Smart Farming Stick Using Arduino and Cloud Computing
Smart farming based agriculture IoT stick is regarded as IoT gadget focusing on live monitoring of environmental data in terms of temperature, moisture and other types depending on sensors integrated with it. Agricultural IoT stick provides the concept of "plug & sense" in which farmers can directly implement smart farming by as such putting the stick on the field and getting live data feeds on various devices like smartphones, tablets etc. and data generated via sensors can be easily shared anywhere and viewed by agriculture consultants remotely via cloud computing technology.
Step 1: Abstract
It is a smart farming stick based on IoT(Internet of things) technology which has brought revolution to each and every field of common man’s life by making everything smart and intelligent. Aim of this project is to propose a novel smart IoT based agriculture stick assisting farmers in getting live data(Temperature, soil moisture, smoke detection) for efficient environment monitoring which will enable them to do smart farming and increase their overall yield and quality of products. The agriculture stick being proposed via this project is integrated with Arduino technology, breadboard mixed with various sensors and live data feed can be obtained online from ThingSpeak.com. Stick is also provided with Bluetooth module to obtain data on android phones through App.
Step 2: Material Required
1. PVC pipe
2. Black tape
3. Glue gun with glue stick
4. Mini Drill
Step 3: Components Required
1. ARDUINO PRO-MINI
2. 5V Power supply
3. WI-FI module
4.1. Soil Moisture sensor
4.2. Temperature sensor
4.3. Smoke sensor
5. PCB plate
6. 12V battery
Step 4: Hardware Setup
Make the connections as described in the image. Connect the Arduino pro mini with the 5V power supply using a simply 12V battery and then connect the soil moisture sensor, temperature sensor, smoke/gas sensor with Arduino. The WI-FI module(ESP8266) is then connect to Arduino using a 3V power supply.
Fix all the components on the stick using glue gun. Connect your WI-FI module using commands on Arduino IDE for WI-FI connectivity.
Step 5: Software
Make the code for the required projects and compile it to the Arduino.
Make your account on ThingSpeak and use the given key to your code. Get your live monitoring data on the graphs.
