Introduction: Ipad Wall Mount Next to Bed

I really liked the idea of having a wall mounted holder for my ipad while lying in bed and after seeing this one done by veryken I decided I would take a shot at making my own.  I bought the same holder for the Ipad from Standzout  and used some basic pieces of wood I had in the garage.  The pieces of hardware cost about $5 total.  Overall it is sturdy and supports the ipad very well.  I may redo the long arm and add a joint the allows me to change the height of the ipad.  I may also change the length of the shorter arms to better position the ipad over the middle of the bed so my wife can watch too, right now it is really only long enough to be in front of me or at the side of the bed.

Quick question: I ended up purchasing a Standzout mount, as you describe above, for a similar application. Did yours come with the actual ball and nut? Mine did not- it only has the socket molded into the frame, with threading around it and nothing to thread it onto. I'm trying to determine if they left something out of my order, or if their advertising copy and pictures are just horribly misleading.

Mine came with the ball and nut, it sounds like you are missing a couple of pieces. Good Luck!

Good job! Can you tell me where you got the hardware, especially the swivel ball nut (if that is what it's called) and the plastic lock ring? I went to Lowes to find these, and they looked at ,me like I was crazy. Thanks.

I bought the holder which came with the hardware from standzout. I linked them in the description.

Thanks very much!

Did you just use some 1x1 pine? I was handling an iPad last night, and I kept thinking how heavy it was. This seems like a good solution to mounting an ipad for media viewing. thanks for the share.

The pieces were about 1x1 maybe a little bigger. I will try to measure and report back later. I just had the laying around from another project so not really sure of the width.

The height of the pieces is about 1 inch and the width is 3/4 inches.
