Step 1: The Dough

Picture of The Dough
Make your favorite dough for the crust and roll into a circle.

I used my mom's pizza dough recipe.

5 cups whole wheat flour
I package yeast
3 tbsp sugar
4 tbsp butter
1 tsp salt
2 cups hot water (120 to 130 degrees F)

Mix the dry ingredients together while the water is heating up.  Put the butter in the measuring cup you will be using for for the water.  When water is hot pour over the butter to melt.  Using a thermometer  make sure water is below 130 degrees.
Mix water/butter into the flour mixture until a soft dough forms.  If it is to sticky add a bit of flour.  Knead until dough is soft and pliable and bounces back when you poke it.
Ok, now you will have a lot of dough, but for my purposes you only need about a pound of it.  The rest can be refrigerated for another time or you can make bread, pizza, cinnamon rolls, rolls, hot dog buns, or hamburger buns.

Step 2: The Rolling

I used a deep dish pan for my pizza.  You can use whatever you have.
Lightly grease your pan.  Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Roll your gob of dough into the shape of your pan.  Making sure the dough extends about an 1" from the edge.
Fold the dough into 1/4's and place into pan then unfold.  Roll the edge down to finish the crust.  Let rise in warm place while getting the "sauce" ready.

Nuts

And anything you would like.
My mom likes dried cherries and dark chocolate chips and slivered almonds on hers.

Scatter the toppings around the pizza evenly.

This reminds me of my days working at Pizza Hut. Not sure if they still sell them or if they're still as good as they used to be, but, they used to sell a few desert pizzas. We used to play around with them quite a bit. My favourite was the apple crumble, basically it was apples and sugar and cinnamon with some sugary oats sprinkled on top...just like apple pie but with a bread bottom.
