Introduction: Jailbreak Your IPod Touch With IOS 3.1.3

In this instructable I am going to show you how to jailbreak your iPod Touch 3G with iOS 3.1.3 using the Spirit Jailbreak! To start go to the next step...

Step 1: Get the Software

To jailbreak your iPod, you need the latest version of iTunes

(32bit here - http://bit.ly/itunes32)
(64bit here - http://bit.ly/itunes64)

You will need Spirit, the main jailbreaking tool

(Windows - http://bit.ly/spiritwindows, all others - http://spiritjb.com/?comments

And you will need to make sure your device is at firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2

Go down to iPod Touch, and in the list click your Device, this only works with the following iPods/Phones/Pads

iPhone(3G)(S)
iPod (1)(2)(3)G
iPad

I am on an iPod Touch 3G, any other device usage is at YOUR OWN RISK

Step 2: Reminders Before Going Any Further

On iPad, all this is still sort of beta. Some packages in Cydia, not designed for iPad, might screw up your system and require you to restore. Be careful. (And no, Cydia's appearance is not final.)

Syncing with iTunes before jailbreaking is highly recommended!

please continue to the next step

Step 3: Jailbreaking

Plug you i"device" into your computer and open Spirit.

When spirit has recognized your device, click Jailbreak.

Your device screen will look like the Sync Screen but it will say "Restore in Progress"

DO NOT PANIC - its the only way spirit can access the internal files and add the apps.

When it is done, your device will reboot, but a few seconds after the boot screen, you will see the "aurora" screen. This means your device has been sucessfully jailbroken. A loading bar will appear, be patient and wait for it to load.

please continue to the next step

Step 4: Afterwards

So you have sucessfully jailbroken your device, what do you do now?

Go to Cydia of course! From Cydia you can download themes and apps and anything inbetween!

To learn more about what you can do with Cydia, look to this site! http://appadvice.com/appnn/2008/07/how-to-use-cydia-a-walkthrough/ it has everything you need to know about Cydia and Jailbreaking.
