Ingredient:
2 Cups Flour
1 Tbs. Baking Powder
1 Tbs. Sugar
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 C Butter, Bear Grease or fat
from any game animal
2/3 C milk or water
In a bowl or whatever you have handy, stir together, flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Using your Bowie Knife, cut in the fat or grease, till the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Keep an eye out for Indians! make a well in the center of the dry mixture, then add the liquid all at once. Using a fork or stick, stir just till all is moistened.
Knead the dough with your hands, folding and pressing dough for ten to twelve times until nearly smooth. Look around for Indians and keep your rifle close! Make balls of dough, the size biscuits that you want. press them between your hands into biscuit shape, about one inch thick. Place them in a warmed, covered skillet or pot with a cover. Put the skillet on the hot coals. About fifteen to twenty minutes should do it, depending on thickness and coals. Enjoy with ham, eggs, venison or bear steaks and gravy !
