Introduction: Jewish / Japanese Fusion Snack - Lox With Wasabi Cream Cheese

Nuvo cuisine name "Smoked Salmon Tartar with Wasabi Cream cheese over rice crackers

I decided to try something different and make a fusion dish. The tastes are complex, and depending on how you serve it you get two different experiences. The amusing part of this dish is the total cost of all ingredients run about $5.00

[Editors note: I am a 'techie' guy more then a chef, so the photo's / presentation is a bit 'rough']

Step 1: Ingredients

1 Package of Cream cheese             .99
1 Pack of Wasabi rice crackers         .99
1 Lb 'Kosher' Lox ends                     2.50
1 tin wasabi powder                            .99

(You can also use prepared wasabi, just be careful that stuff is really strong)

Step 2: Preparing

Take the lox ends out, make sure there is no cartilage or bones in the pieces
put them in a mix master run it for about 20 seconds till the salmon is a tartar / chopped meat
consistency. Put in a plastic disk and cover, Chill in refrigerator for 20 mins.

Step 3: Making the Wasabi Cream Cheese

Add wasabi powder (or paste) till the cream cheese is a light greenish tint,
remember that wasabi is a very strong ingredient and too much can turn your snack
into a practical joke.

Step 4: Preparing the Dish

I put the salmon in a cup, to give it a nice round shape, you can be creative and put it in a
star or fish shape, put it on top of the base of cream cheese

Step 5: The Finished Product

a pound of lox will make about 30 servings (one teaspoon of lox per cracker)
about 1/4 gram of fat per serving (without the cream cheese)

Time to prepare about 20 mins

the flavor of the salmon, and wasabi cracker is really yummy, gentle and subtle
with the cream cheese you get a much stronger wasabi hit, but the lox still shines thru.
