His autonomous programming prevents him from getting stuck as he explores his surroundings. A 3-D map of the environment assists in his decisions and movements. Programming detects human interaction and affects his activity. EMIC voice module allows him to speak. IR detection allows him to follow infrared sources (remote controls) or an IR infrared ball. Pager motors let his ears spin. LED's for eyes. Sharp analog IR sensor for distance on his nose. 2 Servo's let his head move up/down and left/right.

His brain is the EZ-B from the EZ-Robot Project. Available at http://www.ez-robot.com

Lots of specifications and videos can be found here: http://www.dj-sures.com/robots

Very, very nice. Now someone needs to build a sonic screwdriver, and then a TARDIS.
tinker234 in reply to atombomb1945Apr 23, 2012. 8:44 PM
tardis buliders
MairseyDotes in reply to atombomb1945Feb 23, 2009. 2:57 PM
Sonic screwdriver already available from thinkgeek: http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/cubegoodies/8cff/ along with the small TARDIS http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/accessories/9223/?cpg=ab

Build your own full-size (or smaller) TARDIS: http://www.asciimation.co.nz/tardis/

I got those already. Just would like to do more with my Sonic Screwdriver that recharge glow in the dark paint. (open Doors, hack through computers, blow down electronics)

I have a suggestion for you... 1. Move to Cardiff and live in a tent near the fountain thing by the rift. 2. Wait for the Doctor to come to "refuel" 3a. Beg him for his sonic screwdriver 3b. If all else fails hit him over the head, take his screwdriver, leave a note saying your sorry but had no choice, and flee the country
uberzombiebob in reply to tjk94May 15, 2011. 10:57 AM
better version: steps 1 and 2 as before but step three is to attempt to stow away in the tardis, step 4 (if you can't stow away) is to knock out the Doctor and Rory and steal the sonic and step five is to steal the tardis and shag amy when you get bored. :D

Did you get the idea from the TV show? And if you did, is this the old or new version of K-9?
djsures (author) in reply to jwoo2023Dec 19, 2010. 1:41 PM

lockpick in reply to djsuresMar 14, 2011. 11:14 PM

how do i make it able to map???
lockpick says: Jan 5, 2011. 7:36 PM
instructable!!! please?
djsures (author) in reply to lockpickJan 8, 2011. 11:03 AM
sadly there are no detailed photos of the body. if i were to attempt an instructable, it would be denied due to lack of information.

but! have no fear :) .. if you were to make your own, it would only be the body that you'd have to design yourself. since it is made with styrene, it is available at most hobby stores. or even online from ebay (which is cheapest)

you can watch one of my other videos (Tamiya Bulldozer). that would get you the parts necessary to get the robot moving... and with a bit of electronic brain power :)

good luck!

Does he have a nose-laser?
MajorPayne says: Dec 9, 2009. 2:55 AM
Nice work!!!

One question though, how did you implement the 3-D map into the programming?
iProton says: Nov 6, 2009. 9:56 AM
Oh. OH! Does he fly over stairs, fires lasers from his nose and say "affirmative!"? :P

A.I. is the future, and as this slideshow shows... you can do this at home :P

iman says: Oct 10, 2008. 12:25 PM
that's friggin awesome I know how hard it is to write an instructable for a robot (I've tried) but this needs one !
Dragon Maze says: Oct 9, 2008. 10:19 AM
I agree on the NEED for an actual Instructable, but crazy good mention for bringing us the beloved K-9!!!! Yeah his show's pilot bombed, but he always was fun on Doctor Who lo these past 20+ or so seasons of the show! (He did not appear till later in the show, hence I did not say 30+)
Sandisk1duo says: Oct 8, 2008. 8:12 PM
