I took the two electric scooters that I got from Ebay for a whopping 40 bucks, used an angle grinder and a few hours work later I had a K-9 drive system. because I used the scooters I didn't even have build custom motor brackets, instead  I simply cut up the scooter frames and just bolt them in. The batteries were mounted over the motors to keep them planted on the ground and avoid any wheelies or tips due to the single rear wheel.
