black is made of carbon.

the black rod is the same length as the grey rods the only difference is in the strength the black rods are much much stronger than the flimsy grey rods if u can use all black rods for the entire gun instead of the grey ones i just didn't have enough black rods at the time by the way the clear rods in my new gun step#19 or whatever are just as strong as a black rod only they are clear it was an ordering mistake but i kinda like the clear ones

what kind of rubber bands do u use for this or do u use surgical tubing like the srv1?

i used rubber bands on both the v1 and this gun this gun i used some long 10in rubber bands or something that i doubled up but u can use #64 bands and it should work ok i honestly haven't built or shot this gun in over a yr or more the SRv2 uses a particular size surgical tubing and my new assault gun uses #64 rubber bands

No. Black is stronger. I used gray, it snaped hit me in the hear with rod and rubber bands. DON'T DO IT!!!

no duh! it can't be a normal grey rod. unless you ballence the rubberbands then a normal grey rod will bend to extreams and break. the black grey rod is stronger.
