K-TON Palm Flamethrower by Valencio
Meh!.bmp
This is a new version of a wrist mounted flamethrower I made this summer. It is similar some others  flamethrower seen on youtube but they all seem to have complex electrical systems. I wanted to do something much more simple. The gas flow control is entirely mechanical. The only electrical component is the ignition system powered with a single AA battery.

Enjoy!

Sometimes you just have to let stupid flow, from your palms, on fire, and it becomes amazing.

I recently made a basic stick mounted flame thrower to use to light a bonfire I was put in charge of. I had three days to design and make it, and it went off without a hitch. I now have until July to try to make one of these to top what I did at the bonfire. Between now and then is another bonfire where I will have a better designed flamethrower, but I want to have a couple of wrist mounted ones to be to surprise everyone with a burst of flames from my hands to use to light the fire. Is there any chance you can help me out with a design for a wrist mounted like this? My main issue with designs so far come in with nozzles and fuel control. I'm asking around for help. Any thing you can to help would be much appreciated.

That is so cool.
You should make a device for the other hand that focuses on shooting fuel, so you could use your right for distance and aiming and the left to ignite it.

How did you regulate the butane flow if its a valve whats it called? And also how do you keep the butane from condensing inside the tubes?

Could you please post the blue prints or any kind of instructions, please.
Also its perfectly legal

willshubert says: Mar 12, 2012. 4:48 PM
hey i'm in the process of drawing blueprints for my own device and i wanted to also do a purely mechanical device, do you think you can email me on how the valve system works to regulate the gas i would really appreciate it.
thank you

Hey, i was wondering if you could tell me how to make a valve for a mini butane canister. im modifying a toy gun i have to be a flamethrower. i already have an idea for the ignition source, but im lost on how to actually release the gas strong enough to make a decent sized flame, your help would very appreciated,

I think the best part about the entire system is that it doesn't look all mechanic and iron man that takes months of time to produce bravo great job

If you wouldn't mind I ask how much money would it cost to produce this system and how long
Valencio (author) says: Jun 16, 2011. 9:18 AM
Thanks!
Development Time: 1 month
Building (after the development): 2-3 hours
Cost: Definitely less than 60 bucks

I love your device, where can i buy it?
adam97nguyen says: Jun 19, 2011. 4:57 AM
Thanks for the information I know that there are federal laws against this kind of thing so I'm pretty sure you won't be making a building instruction for a while and I am very interested in this cool gadget and would love to have one for the next fourth of July and was wondering if you could maybe on your own time possibly inbox the instruct able to me I would really appreciate it

Thanks

Adum24 says: Dec 2, 2011. 2:03 PM
Hey quick question. Would you mind if i made my own and made an instructable? I wouldnt copy your design exactly, but at least try to make instructions others could follow, so they can make their own

wow thats insane!! i want one
Valencio (author) says: Apr 20, 2011. 5:28 AM
Thanks! I have been requested to sell them, I still don't know if I will, I don't even know if it is legal or if it can get through the customs.
xonar says: Nov 22, 2011. 4:51 PM
You can infact sell these legally. little known fact is that flamethrowers are not regulated by the federal government. And if there are no local prohibitions on them, they are perfectly legal.
sporgo says: Nov 18, 2011. 8:52 PM
What kind of valve are you using?
Spyhunter223 says: Aug 22, 2011. 3:26 AM
Just ship it in peices, if you can. I wouldnt mind buying one!
asingh9 says: Nov 10, 2011. 3:06 AM
when will you post the construction informatiom??
jrbobdobb says: Nov 8, 2011. 12:39 PM
1st, This is awesome and I need this for next years Burning Man.
2nd, the wrist control system, is it like the helium balloon fillers? it bends and opens or is it like an air compressor release, where it pulls a pin on a spring thingy?
ncowley says: Nov 1, 2011. 10:31 PM
how does the gas out put system wrist control work?
dczupik says: Sep 26, 2011. 7:31 PM
im pretty sure this is legal, flame throwers are still legal because i guess its the only thing we have to fight against... BEES! yeah, thats why they havent been out lawed i guess, but id check your local laws to be sure

Pleaaaaassseee....... specifically, what kind of ignitor did you use? where did you get it?
BuildIt6000 says: Apr 21, 2011. 10:37 PM
how did the ignition circuit work?
Valencio (author) says: May 4, 2011. 10:57 AM
It's a modified BBQ igniter. The next model will have a Taser-like ignition system, I am currently working on it.
BuildIt6000 says: Aug 1, 2011. 10:42 PM
Thanks. Just wondered how much power does the BBQ igniter circuit require to generate a spark?
antoman11 says: Jul 10, 2011. 4:41 AM
This is great, although I think people who would need instructions to build it after seeing this video should NOT be building it. No offence, just don't want anyone hurt.
DannytheGreat says: Jun 28, 2011. 7:56 PM
