Introduction: K'nex Model Paint Stand

Picture of K'nex Model Paint Stand

As you can see, a lot of little paints can become a hassle, so I made a stand. Here's how to make a handy enamel or acrylic paint holder with K'nex.

Step 1: Make Racks

Make 2-3 racks to hold your paints. Also gather the other pieces. (You can have as many racks as you can, however I only made 3).

Step 2: Make the Small Top Rack and Feet.

If you want a top rack that can hold 3 things, then make this. Note: The feet are required with or without the top rack.

Step 3: Assemble

Put everything together.

Step 4: The Yellow Elastic

This is handy for opening stubborn paints.

i usally use humbrol paints(the little tins) what kind of models o you make? i usually make military or aircraft models the small tins might need a smaller knex shelf to store them on

sbrown (author)bedbugg22007-08-13

I usually make cars, however I want to make other things like airplanes. You could modify the shelf by moving the rods closer together for smaller tins.

THANK YOU SO MUCH my moms friend used to do models but dosnt anymore so he gave me a carosel and some paints but i still never had enough room, i must have 40 paint jars. could you make one for sprays and tamaya paint jars as well? oh yeah dont buy store boght paint thinner ordinary varsol works better and is way cheeper. if you brush some varsol on something, it will take the paint right of, i got it on my wall once, it was all dry, but i got it of.

K'Nex ... but not a gun ... somebody pinch me ... I must be dreaming ... (BTW, like the rubber-band trick. That would have been worth a small Instructable on its own)

John Smith (author)2007-08-13

So someone found a use for knex other than guns and weapons, eh? :D

theque (author)2007-08-13
