Introduction: Keeping Your Cat Busy
For most people with cats, you're not in the house all of the time, much like me. People have school, work, church, concerts, parties, and things to do. So earlier today, I came up with this really simple, fun way to entertain your cat for a while. Mine loved it.
Step 1: Tools and Materials
TIP: From gabriel.eckers: use a thicker chord, not string, as cats might swallow it...maybe use yarn or crocheting thread.
Let's get started!
Step 2: Pretty Much the Whole Project
Since this is such a simple project, we really only need one step for constructing the toy. Insert the needle (with thread on it, of course) into as close to the middle of the puff ball as possible. Pull it through on the other side to your desired length. I pulled it to about 2 or 3 feet. Don't pull it all the way through; leave some on the opposite end to tie a knot (maybe 3 times) so that it doesn't slip out.
Step 3: Using the Toy, and Personalization
To use the toy: Hold the string at the end and drag it along the floor in the room your cat is in. Once you get them to pounce on it, they will play with it for hours. Sometimes, they'll even pick it up by themselves.
To personalize: Feel free to tie beads onto the string, use a cool puff ball, or change the length of the string. As long as it fits this general idea, your cat should love it. :)
P.S. Sorry these final pics are blurry. They're...erm...action shots... yeah that's the word...
