Introduction: Kirby Costume

Here's a simple Kirby costume we made for Halloween.

Step 1: Create the Body

We bought the biggest and cheapest yoga ball we could find.

Overinflated it so it was big enough that my son could fit inside.

Then we paper mached the whole thing with 3-4 layers. I found it was easier to just rub the paste all over then stick large sheets of newspaper on top the rub more paste on that.

We had it sitting on a bucket that served as the opening in the bottom.

Once it was completely dry just deflate and remove the yoga ball.

Step 2: Painting the Pants

My son put on some old pants and we painted them pink

Step 3:

We cut out holes for eyes and used parts of those for the arm nubs and cut a hole for the mouth so people could put candy in there.

Then we spray painted the whole thing pink.

Next we hot glued screen inside the eyes and painted on top of that.

Finally the pink pants and red shoes complete the costume.

Step 4: Trick or Treat

My son wore a ski helmet (they have more padding than a bike helmet) on the inside to help support the whole thing.

I glued some speakers inside and we used an mp3 player to play the Kirby theme song.

Finally I glued a couple mesh bags for candy which as it turns out was not the best idea because he was getting tons of candy because everyone was excited to see an homemade costume and it made everything really heavy.

We had a great time. The comments and looks from everyone were incredible.
