It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is quite possibly the best show ever to grace television with its presence.  If you haven’t seen it, it is the most not-politically-correct show about the absolute worst people, and I love it.  In one of the best episodes, Charlie, who is obsessed with the girl who works at the coffee shop and probably has a learning disability, makes Kitten Mittons and tries to convince the others to sell them at the pub.  I decided to crochet some and mail them to my friend who is obsessed with her cat, but shockingly I couldn’t find any patterns online.  So, I made my own.

I'm sorry but I dont quiet understand what the sc, ch, st, dc, and sl mean. makes absolutely no sense to me... HELP plz!
anniemagz (author) in reply to inokodeyuuDec 4, 2011. 9:04 PM
No problem!

sc - single crochet
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
sl - slip stitch

I think these videos cover all of those stitches:

Let me know if you still need more resources!

*Note: It is important to note that in my pattern you won't sl ch and turn after each row. You'll just continue in the same direction, kind of like a spiral. :)

Even with ninja-like speed, my cat was NOT pleased to have mittons put on her, and, even after tying them tight enough I wouldn't think they'd fall off, she shook her foot repeatedly until it flew off. This is a very cute idea, but I couldn't get my cat to put up with it. i tried like five times. I could only get one mitton on before she'd shake it off after 30 seconds. The cat in that video must have been trained or something! However, if your cat somehow puts up with it, they are stretchy, so I think they will fit on back feet. My cat is just too good for my craftiness :)

About 30 seconds the cat fell of the table

You didn't make them bigger for the back feet? I just made a single one and I can see it fitting on the front paws but not the back. I guess I'll wait and see when I try to squeeze them on my cats.

they're relatively stretchy. my friends and i haven't had trouble with them fitting back feet :] if you still have trouble, let me know!!

So great! Did you get the idea while stalking a lawyer in his own car?

Actually, my apartment was filled with all the things I had dumpster-dived with my estranged father.  It got so full that he and I ended up having to sleep on top of the vent on the sidewalk.  So, we decided to get rid of it.  In the process I came across some yarn scraps, a size G hook, and a dumpster kitty.  I took all three up the my secret place hidden in the A/C ducts of my pub and devised the greatest accessory in the history of cat-kind: The Kitten Mitton.

Can you follow this with "How to fit mittens to a cat (without spilling blood)"?

How to fit mittons to a cat (without spilling blood) in 3 steps or less

1)  Wait until cat is fast asleep
2)  Use ninja-like speed to secure kitten mittons
3)  Quick take a picture before cat wakes up and realizes what you have done

:]

Great plan!  Will post my own pic if I survive trying to put mittens on Ms. Zoey (aka the Cat from Hell)!

Haha can't wait!  Remember: Ninja-like speed.  THAT is the key, my friend.

I agree with you about IASIP.  It started out awesome, got a little soft, and then somehow has regained its awesomeness in the most recent season.

How about some process pictures of making the mittens?  And using an original picture as your intro image makes it more likely to get featured. . .
anniemagz (author) in reply to scoochmarooMar 13, 2010. 6:01 AM
Also, the second picture in the intro is my friend's cat wearing the finished product :]

I'm working on another set today, so I should have some more in process pictures.  Sadly, I'm allergic to cats and have to rely on cat-owning friends to send me pictures of the mittons in use :(

I'm glad you like the show too though!  The only episode I can't watch is the Extreme Home Makeover one, everything else is pretty golden
