Introduction: Kitty Pops!

Picture of Kitty Pops!

Summer is finally here! The sun is out and the temperatures are rising. I know my kitty LOVES gazing outside and sun-bathing every chance she gets. That being said, It's important to keep our furry felines HYDRATED and HAPPY.

The answer is simple, Kitty Pops! Not only will it help keep our cats hydrated and increase their level of water intake, but it's also a tasty treat that they go ga-ga for!

Step 1: Gather Supplies

Picture of Gather Supplies

-Ice tray
-Canned tuna (in water)
-Can opener
-Plastic Wrap
-Wooden sticks (optional)

Step 2: Fill Ice Trays

-Fill ice tray with water.

-Open the canned tuna (traditional canned cat food with a sauce-like consistency will also work well). Use a spoon to slightly stir.

-Carefully fill the spoon about half way full with tuna water, then add a few drops into each ice cube mold.

Step 3: Cover & Freeze

-Cover with plastic wrap.

-Puncture the plastic wrap and insert the wooden sticks into each ice cube mold. This will help keep the sticks in place.

Step 4: ENJOY!

-Once frozen, remove from ice tray.
-Call your Kitty over and watch their eyes light up :)

This is a good idea! Although, I plan on using canned sardines (packed in water with NO added salt) because they don't have so much Mercury in them. I feed a few homeless kitty's too, it's about 108 degrees here and I stress about them often. This might help keep them healthy.

My kitties love the water from canned chicken and salmon too, and some brands seem to pack quite a lot of water in their tins compared to others.

Cats love the water from canned chicken/tuna/salmon so much that I've been trying to figure out how to create just the water itself as a pet product. I can see large vats of water with chicken or fish in them, stewing over a low heat...
