Introduction: Knex Ball Machine: Revolution

Picture of Knex Ball Machine: Revolution

Hi everyone!

Here's my new ball machine, called Revolution.

It's not as big as my previous machines but it has a special feature: You can sit on it.

As far as I know this is the first working ball machine where you can sit on. (Tell me if there is another.)

It can easily hold more than 100 kilos.

1 network, 2 lifts, 8 paths. Some new elements are also included, and the 2 lifts aren't new concepts but were designed by me.

The machine is 1.10m wide, 1.10m deep and 1.00m high.

Build time: 13 apr 2014 - 23 may 2014

Number of pieces: 13531

Instructions:

New elements

1st lift

2nd lift

Revolution won a Second Prize in the Community Contest: Toy Rods and Connectors, thanks for your votes!

Thanks a lot for watching and I hope you enjoy!

Thanks, lift looks good!

O_O

And you can sit on it? That's just impressive.

Thanks :)

Gosh! You have a lot of k'nex!!!!!!! Where did you get 'em?? Especially those orange yellowish conecters with the little rods on the top???

Mostly second hand, from ebay for example :)

ThijsL1 (author)2015-10-29

maybe can you make a instructable of what you have if you have the piece of the machine if sandroknexmaster gives entitling

knex akbar (author)ThijsL12015-12-15

well no because i was able to build it just with sandro's pictures, other people should be able to do the same, it's really not as hard as it sounds. and lol i still have the machine standing because i haven't touched any knex since this :p

elias paul (author)2015-12-08

I like it
But I can't make .

Thanks!

Yes it was a bit big too make full instructions, but there are instructions for some parts of this machine, you can find the links in the description.

sandroknexmaster (author)2015-09-23

Thanks!

kirogn (author)2015-09-21

what made you brave enough to sit on it. looks like a lot of work to make it that awsome and well structured. one of my favorite components was the ramp jump

Linkin_J_Knex (author)2015-09-05

Cool machine! are you actually sitting on it or is it some fancy editing?!

Thanks!

*I read the description. sorry :-/*

ThijsL1 (author)2015-08-22

this is one of my favorite knex buildings but i cant make it becouse there arent instructions ?

sandroknexmaster (author)ThijsL12015-08-23

Yes indeed, it was a bit too big for full instructions. There are some links in the description with instructions for some parts of the machine.

sandroknexmaster (author)2015-08-15

I don't think anyone could do it, but yes maybe some. Nice to see that you liked it, hope you enjoyed building it!

knex akbar (author)2015-06-26

Ok so I think I finally have enough pieces to build this, I will try to rebuild this from the pictures and the video, and change some stuff, like removing the roof(If I have enough purple connectors I will try to leave it there) and changing the tubing path to maybe just regular yellow path. Just so I have enough pieces :p

If I'm done can I post instructions of it?(I will give you credit for the design of the machine of course.)

Yes go ahead, can't wait to see the result :)

master-splinter306 (author)2015-06-23

Awesome job!

Thanks!

Die toren is echt sterk als je er al als mens op kan zitten

Inderdaad, meer dan 100 kilo.

knepic (author)2015-04-16

could you please post instructions?

sandroknexmaster (author)knepic 2015-04-18

I'm sorry, this thing is already down for some time now. There are 3 links in the description with instructions for separate parts of the machine. Hope you can do something with that :)

thanks

What is that thing in the background at 2:17 in the video? :p

You're the second one to ask that :D

A new lift concept that wasn't motorized back then. It was also too high to add in Revolution.

Now that I'm working on a new ball machine, I retried on motorizing it, with success. So you will probably see it in my next ball machine.

Back then I wanted to take it down because I thought I made it too complicated, something that happens often when I build new lifts. But luckily I didn't, it works now. :D

A ball machine with instructions?? :D

Only instructions for the new things, the whole thing would be too difficult :)

Actually it's very easy, you can do it by taking a small bit away from the machine, take pictures of it, take another bit away from the machines and make pictures untill the machine is destroyed, so you basically start from the last step of the instructable and work your way to the very beginning. this way you could make instructions of pretty much any knex machine no matter how complicated the machine is. It would be awesome to build just 1 ball machine from you with instructions since you are the best :)

That's a good idea but it would still be very difficult: you need to plan everything exactly, never forget something, .... Plus, and I know you will say "I will", almost nobody will make it, simply because only a few people have enough parts for it. That for the machine of the size I'm working on now.

I could indeed build a smaller ball machine sometimes and make full instructions for it. I've got this request more and more lately, so I think I have to give it a try. But first finishing this ball machine I'm working on now, that will take a lot of time :D

If there were instructions for it, I certainly be one of the few people that would be able to build it since I own loads and loads of K'nex.

I'm currently working on a big project, but maybe I can build a smaller one with instructions when the other ball machine is finished. Because there are more and more people asking me for a smaller ball machine with instructions.

Sure, I can't wait for your new ball machine.

When I get a decent camera and allot of more pieces I will try to make the biggest ball machine on this site with instructions just to prove it's possible haha

Me too :p

Ok, I'd like to see some other ball machines from you.

Also I was wondering where did you get that many white connectors???

knexusergroup charges way too much for them in my opinion.

They all come with the sets I bought over the years. I think I bought only once a bag with only white connectors, about 100.

Am I the only one who think the results don't show justice? :P

Grand prize, I mean, come on?

I still think Convolution is the best of all entries :D

And for the rest, yeah the results are not really as expected, but it is what it is. It's not the end of the world. And I still won the second prize which isn't bad at all :)

No man, Revolution was by far the best entry I have seen. Convolution is basically the same as his previous ball machine wich was also a structure going trough the whole room. Revolution is a bit more unique and original in my opinion,

It may be a new concept, sitting on a ball machine, but I mostly watch to the amount of new stuff. I did post the lifts, but none of them where new (except the picking up from the floor thing, but that's nothing big). 5 new elements, only 5. Convolution has a lot more new elements, and needed way more planning than Revolution, which is basically a very simple strong structure. Something anyone with enough pieces can build. The sitting feature is a cool extra which maybe deserves a few extra points, but for me it is not better than a ball machine more than twice the size. And I know it is not the most important thing and that we should not judge ball machines because of there size but... Convolution is huge :p

You're right! And there's still next year (I hope)! :-)

I hope so :)

Nice
Zou jij ook een keer een kleine ballmachine op instructables kunnen zetten weet dat het moeilijk is maar het zou kunnen

Bedankt :)

Ik ben momenteel bezig met iets anders, misschien een andere keer.
