This is a small machine I made recently. Its a cable car that rides on a long piece of chain. Nothing too phenomenal, but I hadn't posted anything in a while and I thought some of you may like it...

Enjoy!

webby427 in reply to knexjayFeb 18, 2010. 12:10 PM
get an old fasiond touch one then add a rod to the front with duct tape get solar power motor the get it going towards thelamp it should touch the lamp shut the lamp down therefore shuting its power source down so it cant move.
I_am_Canadian (author) in reply to knexjayDec 3, 2009. 2:31 PM
Try saying that again in english, and you'll get an answer.
Bright Shadow in reply to I_am_CanadianDec 5, 2009. 11:24 AM
I think I might know what he means... He's going to make a cable car to turn off his lamp at night, but he's not sure how the car is going to turn off by itself. Kinda lazy IMO.
I_am_Canadian (author) in reply to Bright ShadowDec 5, 2009. 1:39 PM
Ah, thank you :-)
DJ Radio says: Oct 19, 2009. 12:56 PM
Now I wanna make one!  Then again, I don't have a place to put it.

:-)

Thanks!
DJ Radio in reply to I_am_CanadianOct 19, 2009. 4:10 PM
4.5* btw.  Oh and I think your cable car would be better if it ran on string.  Most people don't have a bunch of chain links.
I_am_Canadian (author) in reply to DJ RadioOct 19, 2009. 7:33 PM
I'm a purist :-p No string!

LoL, I've made them with string in the past... Perhaps a new project in the blueprints...
Kairah in reply to I_am_CanadianOct 24, 2009. 11:22 AM
Nice and simple design!
I made a cable car some time ago... It went on a string AND solar power :P
I_am_Canadian (author) in reply to KairahOct 24, 2009. 1:34 PM
Thats awesome! I wish I had one of thems solar motors...
Killer~SafeCracker in reply to I_am_CanadianOct 25, 2009. 1:38 PM
I have one but I can't get it to work. I know you don't have one, but any ideas??
I_am_Canadian (author) in reply to Killer~SafeCrackerOct 25, 2009. 2:43 PM
For what?
Killer~SafeCracker in reply to I_am_CanadianOct 25, 2009. 2:45 PM
To get the motor to work.
Kairah in reply to Killer~SafeCrackerOct 25, 2009. 2:56 PM
What do you mean? If its to weak... I geared it down 3 times from small blue gear to large yellow in my cable car.
Killer~SafeCracker in reply to KairahOct 25, 2009. 2:59 PM
I mean I can't even get it to turn on.
Kairah in reply to Killer~SafeCrackerOct 25, 2009. 3:46 PM
Just put the power cord in the motor and the other end in the sun panel. Then put the motor rod on the motor and it should start spinning with enough light.
Killer~SafeCracker in reply to KairahOct 25, 2009. 3:52 PM
Can it run off a regular light bulb??
Pizzapie500 in reply to Killer~SafeCrackerDec 13, 2009. 12:31 PM
No, it can't. Unless the lightbulb has electrons and photons coming out of it. Otherwise, the solar panel cannot create energy because it runs on those 2 elements which comes from the sun. (I think...)
Killer~SafeCracker in reply to Pizzapie500Dec 13, 2009. 12:46 PM
Yes it can. Trust me, look at my alarm clock, it can run off light bulb.
Pizzapie500 in reply to Killer~SafeCrackerDec 13, 2009. 4:11 PM
Lolz. I made that the other day! I put it under lights and it doesn't work because mine are fluorescent (they don't give off energy). Then i brought it outside and it didn't work because the solar panel does not create enough energy to power the motor. If it worked for you, then take your cable car with the solarpanel on it with the motor and use the same light and light bulb and try it.
Killer~SafeCracker in reply to Pizzapie500Dec 13, 2009. 4:40 PM
Was the panel in direct sun light?
Pizzapie500 in reply to Killer~SafeCrackerDec 14, 2009. 4:41 AM
Yes it was. I checked to see how much electricity was coming out of it, there was some but not enough

I_am_Canadian (author) in reply to LowneyOct 24, 2009. 1:33 PM
That is the question.
Lowney in reply to I_am_CanadianOct 25, 2009. 4:09 AM
Ah yes but what is the answer?

Nah.
Lowney in reply to I_am_CanadianOct 25, 2009. 3:02 PM
 Why not?
DJ Radio in reply to LowneyOct 29, 2009. 1:58 PM
Because nobody else cares.
