Knex Coin Sorter

I didn't want to buy an expensive commercial coin sorter, so I decided to make this instead! It sorts dimes, pennies, nickels, and quarters into store-bought paper sleeves. It runs using a motor, and the sorting tray on top goes back and forth, sorting the coins according to their size.

You don't have to use paper sleeves to store the coins; you can just have them fall into piles or into something else.

Here's all the pieces you'll need to build the coin sorter:

Rods: 261

• blue- 61
• yellow- 38

Connectors: 285

• dark gray- 68
• light gray- 10

• green- 6
• yellow- 19
• white- 19
• orange- 63
• blue- 14
• purple- 62

Other: 148

• silver spacer- 42
• blue spacer- 55
• Y-connector- 24
• tan clip- 12
• blue clip- 2
• blue hinge- 1
• black hinge- 9

• small blue gear- 1
• red gear- 1

And, get 4 paper sleeves for each coin if you want to use them.

I made my coin sorter. As you can see, I used regular paper and wrote the name of the coin that goes in to each holder.

The motor doesn't have a name, it's just a motor manufactured by the Knex company.

No, but you might be able to modify it to sort those.

I've already started making this but I had to order black hinges from Knex.

Btw...if you get to step 10 "the coin holders" you can mod it so that it doesn't use black connectors...use grey single connectors and put the spacers ona s you go :)

don't worry...I finished it...but for some reason the tray doesn't tip all the way back so the coin doesn't slide anywhere. But still 5 stars

YAYAYAYAYAY im finnaly done notice that it doesnt have any gears. Cons: it cant sort quarters , it sorts pennies and dimes on one side and nickels have to go on the other side

You can leave the black hinges on the bottom out, since they are there for extra support.
