This is the_burrito_master's k'nex tank, based on the E.U. tank in Battlefield 2142. He built it originally, and I simply copied it from pictures and then made an instructable using Google Sketchup. Imperar created the individual k'nex pieces in sketchup. I simply put them together. You can find the 3d model here:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=3d44ba4e984ee8bf7036b270f2e25c91
and you can visit the_burrito_master for more k'nex stuff here:
http://www.instructables.com/member/the_burrito_master/
and you can visit Imperar and his k'nex supercar made with sketchup here:
http://www.instructables.com/member/Imperar/

The tank is propelled by a motor, and is durable enough to drive off the 2 foot table it's pictured on without breaking. The chain does not jam into the gears, mainly because of a few green connectors guiding it at the bottom and the gears' elevation from the ground. The turret can be made to turn with a motor, but I didn't happen to have an extra motor, so you'll need to figure that out on your own, as well as adding a motor if you don't have the same one I do.

If any part of the instructable is unclear, let me know and I'll add some extra views of the section. Or, if you would prefer it, download Sketchup and the tank's file and look at it from any perspective your heart desires.

thesupergoalie says: Jun 19, 2011. 4:30 AM

You just have to think about it.
It took me 6hours to complete
verypoopy says: Apr 2, 2011. 4:15 AM

Imperar needs more credit for his original sketchup stuff. Take a look here:

WOAAHHH!!!  IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!!!!!  I USE SKETCHUP INSTEAD OF MLCAD TOOO!!
crazyknexkid says: Dec 24, 2009. 8:17 PM

did you make this on some sorta online knex builder thing?!?! cuz if you did tell me i wanna know it!!!

Sumdude (author) says: Dec 25, 2009. 5:37 AM
Google Sketchup. The Sketchup warehouse (online database of models) has individual pieces that were made by Imperar.
Lowney says: Nov 1, 2009. 2:33 AM
This is the best tank on the site!
Mr. Muggle says: Nov 27, 2009. 7:57 AM
hey lowney, What do you think of my new tank, check it out:

Lowney says: Nov 27, 2009. 8:25 AM
Good work!
Mr. Muggle says: Nov 27, 2009. 8:52 AM
thanks, do you wanna rate?
marlonlaija says: Sep 7, 2009. 5:37 PM
will a green motor work
Sumdude (author) says: Sep 7, 2009. 6:08 PM
It depends on the size and torque of the motor. If it's the same one, this should help:
http://web3.instructables.com:8080/community/knex-tank-that/
If not, I can provide suggestions if you can give a description/picture.
chopstx says: Aug 31, 2009. 7:53 PM
My only complaint is this step. If you can, can you split it into smaller chunks?
Sumdude (author) says: Sep 2, 2009. 6:09 AM
chopstx says: Sep 2, 2009. 8:52 AM
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!
chopstx says: Aug 31, 2009. 7:53 PM
Otherwise, this instructable and the tank are both very good. 4.5*

Look at the 5th picture in step 2, and the second picture in the intro. The motor locks into the white connector
JonnyDude2008 says: Jun 29, 2009. 12:38 PM
hello I have the same shape motor however at a higher rpm which results in lower power do you reckon it could hall the weight?
Sumdude (author) says: Jun 29, 2009. 1:11 PM
I haven't listed the RPM of the motor I used, so I can't be sure if your motor is different. But, if your motor is too "weak" to move the tank, you can try building a gearbox for it. Put a small blue gear on the motor's axle, and line it up with a red gear on the tank's axle (but probably not the cogs that are already there). The tank's axle will rotate slower, but will have more torque.
JonnyDude2008 says: Jun 30, 2009. 8:25 AM
tanks... get it wasn't vry funny lol im gonna attach another motor ive got so it shld be ok awesome tank though
Sumdude (author) says: Jul 2, 2009. 4:58 PM
This should help if that doesn't work. The axle closest to you is the one that turns the gears of the tank's tracks.

JonnyDude2008 says: Jul 3, 2009. 8:35 AM
Thanks. I'm hoping to make it tonight. Have u seen the other version on this site the one that turns?
mettaurlover says: Jul 2, 2009. 3:38 PM
this is made of awesomeness.
knexsuperbuilderfreak says: Jun 30, 2009. 5:27 PM
not 100 his but good im gonna make it all with a cyber motor and a tertherd motor
ceaser47 says: Jun 4, 2009. 8:19 PM
does it shoot?
Sumdude (author) says: Jun 5, 2009. 3:10 AM
The tank you see there does not shoot, but I'm sure it could be modified to shoot, with that barrel removed or replaced. Or, remove the turret altogether and fit a better gun to the top. It would probably look better, too, if you extended the chassis around it.
DJ Radio says: May 16, 2009. 8:05 PM
ya, I like it. 4.5*, cuz it aint yours. But i do like that you got his permission and didnt take credit.
The Jamalam says: May 20, 2009. 9:11 AM
What the hell? cuz it aint yours? What difference does that make!
DJ Radio says: May 20, 2009. 10:24 AM
If he got permission from The burrito master, and gave credit, then no difference. thus, it makes no difference.
Sumdude (author) says: May 20, 2009. 5:50 PM
You said 4.5 because it wasn't mine, but as I see, didn't mean it, so you rated it 4.5 regardless of whether I designed the tank or not. Let's leave it at that and not argue needlessly.
Wicky says: May 9, 2009. 8:52 AM
Wow doesn't that enormous model lag? Bah after about 50 pieces it starts lagging here =/
