Knex Halo 2 Battle Rifle replica.

Behold, possibly the best knex Halo Battle Rifle replica ever made in terms of looks.

Unfortunately, it has a few downsides. The mech doesn't work first of all. I have other things I want to do, I've been working on this for over a month now, and I don't want this project to go to pot because it looks so damn good. So here is what I am going to do:

I will post instructions for the gun "As is". If anyone wants to fix it and make it work, be my guest. You can make it single shot, or mag fed, whatever, as long as it works without butchering the look. If anyone does fix it, they should make a video of it shooting, and send me the raw file over Skype (My skype name is dj_jazzy_jeff1, if you aren't already in my contacts, say that you fixed my BR in the introduction message)

If I like your fix, you will then be a collaborator on this instructable, changing all the steps so they build your version. I will give credit to you for fixing the gun, but I must maintain the majority for making the gun look like it does. You will receive a patch and a subscription if you help me.

In the meantime, I'm touting this as a non-firing model with parts of a mechanism in it. Don't call me hypocritical for asking other people to make their replicas shoot, because believe me, I made the effort. Nobody who I have asked didn't even bothered trying.

NOTE: Building your improved version in metallics is optional.

Step 1 The front bit.

This bit holds the bands and whatnot.

1. Make this layer.
2- Layers 2-4 on layer 1.
3- Close up on layer 3.  It's built a bit differently near the front.
4-6: Make the front barrel.  It's a bit tricky, be careful.
7- Connect the barrel to layer 3.
8- Add this little bit.  It makes the assembly sturdier.
9- Make the grip thingy
10- Add it to the rest of the gun
11- Add in another layer 1 and this is what you get.  Move onto the next step.

I love halo guns, and this is a perfect knex version of a battle rifle. I would love to build a knex DMR, as it is my favorite halo weapon next to the spiker.

WIth enough mods this could become a DMR. Honestly though I liked the BR better than the DMR. BR spread was better than the bloom the DMR has.

What sort of range did the firing version of this gun get?

with mine i got atleast 30 feet but i never actualy tested it outside so im unsure

Yup. Well mine could get 100ft with a string of 3 #64 bands.

You know, I think it's interesting how you and I each built a Halo weapon in the exact opposite manner. You built a perfect replica and failed with the mech, I built a working mech and failed with the looks. I think I'll work on this this soon because it is seriously one of my favorite builds.

It's not a replica by any means, but I added it to the photo 'ible I posted recently. It's more of a concept that I tried to make look like a Brute Shot since no one else has made one, lol. And ah, I might look into that...I'd probably try to start fresh, though.

It does; that's the wonderful thing about having a community. The problem is that I tend to sacrifice looks to make mechs work(like with my brute shot). I dunno, I'll try my hardest but it seems that even though I built a cannon with a mag, it's dissatisfactory lol.

That's alright when it comes to making a performance gun, but in replica land, making it look good is what counts. Some people say that if a gun has a good design and is nice and neat and clean it will also look good in most cases.

Meh. I just say that I based it off of a Brute Shot(because I did lol) in the 'ible I just finished. But whatever, it's still at least a try when no one else has something similar to it lol. I still love yours >.>
