Step 1: Blade

leave some space in the outer layer at the bottom of the blade for connecting the hilt.

Step 2: Crosshilt

Will it break if you hit it aqgainst a wall? Or if two people hit each other with it. Each person has one.

the blade might lose a piece off the edge however, the weakest part is the handle, so it might break there
