The first K'nex double action revolver, it's only been...oooh... at least 3 years too long since I first made it but over that time I have fiddled and tweaked it to what it is today. So it's finally here YAAAAAAYY!

It can shoot oodammo, blue, green or white rods (I find that I get the most range from the white rods).
When shot horizontally the range with one band is about 25 feet.

Unlike other K'nex guns with cylinders this one has an auto-revolver mechanism that rotates the cylinder whenever the trigger is pulled, so you never have to rewind it, EVER!

This gun is great.... but the instruction is by far the worst i've ever seen....

for example look to picture 1 from step 2 ( look where the straight orange connecter is placed with the white rod)
Now look to picture 4 and 5 from step 5 ( is it on another place.... you didn't even say that it sits wrong or something )

That's why i don't realy like the instruction... I'm realy sorry man

I rated: 4.5 ( for gun ) 1.5 ( instruction) 4.5+1.5=6 6:2=3
I rated a 3... i'm realy sorry man just not very nice to build if it takes you like 5 minutes each picture to understand....

Dragonfly7 says: Dec 2, 2011. 5:29 PM
I want to see how it works (the rotating mechanism) But you have GOT to make better instructions!

:( It took me 2 days to do that.
Kinetic says: Jul 25, 2011. 5:39 AM
Well I can tell you put effort into it based on all the extra comments (you have a good sense of humor), but on some of the steps you showed images of an already complete gun and when putting the gun together you would jump from a half completed handle to adding a forgotten spacer. When I post guns, I do it layer by layer, though I recognize that that is a little more irritating with a yellow-width gun, but it is much more clear. I love the gun, I the effort you put into the instructable, but try to follow a layer by layer format next time and you won't hear any complaints from me :) Sorry if I was a bit to the point on my first comment.

knexinventer says: Jun 10, 2011. 7:42 PM
well i cant really understand where to put the bands and other things
Inventor X says: Jul 21, 2011. 7:25 AM
If you understand how this mechanism works, you should know where to place bands that provide the mechanical energy for such a thing to operate. :p
lorzhenk says: Jul 20, 2011. 4:23 AM
WTF DUDE?! your gun is genius but the instractable is a senseless piece of nothing!!!!!

knexgundude says: Jul 11, 2011. 3:58 PM
dude its sweet but it dosent shoot very far
AUG-5OM3 says: Jul 8, 2011. 9:32 AM
Sorry dude I tried making it but the instructions are too unclear. The idea is very good though.
DB2016 says: Jul 2, 2011. 3:14 PM
Good idea, but due to inconsistent directions, lack of English, and extra/unrelated pictures, the final result left me with a broken orange connector, three barrels that fell off, two bullets that actually shot, and three barrels with the bullets about a millimeter from their original starting point. I am really glad I got to take apart my M1 Garand Hammer Mech gun for this.

NOT.
DB2016 says: Jul 3, 2011. 8:27 AM
Alright, that was a bit harsh, and the broken piece wasn't entirely your fault, but when you said to put the rubber band somewhere instead of showing us, it got really messed up, and the only reason the above happened was because it wouldn't spin. The times it did it shot very nicely.

Please add a little bit more detail, clean up the pics so that you don't have extras, and please be more consistent with the pics, for example, in Step 1 below the snowflake connector it is a green connector, yet in the final pictures it is a yellow connector.

A video would bring my 2.0 up to a 3.5 or above, with one of the plates removed, preferably the one with the pawl on it removed so the mechanism can be seen and duplicated, thank you.
Loosewire; SOE Operative (author) says: Jul 4, 2011. 4:32 AM
Okay, yeah, I will try to do a video. Sorry about some inconsistency in the photos, it was because as I was doing the Instructable I modified it slightly.
DB2016 says: Jul 5, 2011. 5:05 AM
And thanks for being cool dude, as you know, comments always look more hostile than the person intended, but I modded it to shoot yellow rods with a break-action type thing where the handle part bends in the middle so you can easily take the cylinder out to reload. Yeah, I mean, I know how it's SUPPOSED to work, for me it just doesn't. Thanks man for replying though.
DB2016 says: Jul 4, 2011. 5:22 AM
Alright, I mean, I modded it so now it just doesn't rotate, part of it was my fault I think, so I'll higher the rating, but I would really like an auto rotate... Like I said, a video of the mechanism (the pawl-side plate taken off) would suffice, but it DOES get nice range. Reminds me of the Mauler from Halo haha.
knexinglemon says: Jun 27, 2011. 2:56 AM
these instructions are retarted in every step its got something from a previous step but a peice is different so you have to change it
jamesdude says: Jun 28, 2011. 6:00 AM
You're supposed to make the parts in each picture and then put them together the way he shows...
DB2016 says: Jul 3, 2011. 8:28 AM
No, he's right, look at the plates from step one, then in the final steps they're different in multiple places.
Cheezpaper says: Jun 30, 2011. 9:47 AM
FINALLY. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SINCE YOU FIRST POSTED IT ON KI.
Inventor X says: Jun 28, 2011. 3:06 PM
I believe this is one of 2 mechanisms that could work really nicely on Knex gun.
One being this, and the other being the mech. Kinetic used on his Kinetic rifle. :D Btw, really sweet gun, built it and it works like a charm.
MegaMetal8 says: Jun 28, 2011. 12:05 PM
Will build soon
mberg says: Jun 28, 2011. 7:37 AM
The mechanism that u have is similar to what was trying to do to one of my guns.
knexinglemon says: Jun 27, 2011. 2:44 AM
i dont get the last picture on the step coz there is something with a blue circle piece when we never made that??
hazza the gun says: Jun 14, 2011. 11:11 AM
a few teething problems (range, pawl falling off etc.)
could be a little more reliable and have a better power to trigger weight ratio. Apart from that gr8 gun, i hope the design gets picked up by other knex gunsmiths and improved. dont take this the wrong way, its fantastic. However the main problem is the orange connector on the back of the trigger (more commonly known as a sear) as it wont lock in the most powerful postion without the trigger being pushed forward by about 1 millimeter or so.

THANKS!!!!!
Sketch98 says: Jun 21, 2011. 4:34 PM
You can't have a strong semi auto shot without winding a wheel of rubber bands or having a heavy trigger. It's conservation of energy.
tytiger33 says: Jun 11, 2011. 10:34 AM
Could someone make this mech smaller and more reliable?
Whaleman says: Jun 11, 2011. 2:58 PM
Well, you could certainly try yourself.
tytiger33 says: Jun 12, 2011. 9:29 AM
Thats not my specialty. My specialty is modding more normal style guns and generally not messing with the mech. Besides I don't fully understand this gun and until more like this are made I still won't. The problem I was having until I took it apart was the pawl kept falling off and before that the was skipping rounds, firring with random ranges, not rotating the cylinder and and generally being unreliable. Can you help and give us a reliable and powerful small semi-auto? And I think that this gun's mech could be used to make a mag fed gun.
TheFoofinator says: Jun 16, 2011. 2:59 PM
tytiger33 says: Jun 18, 2011. 5:20 PM
Cool tell me when instructions come out.
Whaleman says: Jun 12, 2011. 6:09 PM
This gun's mech (or at least the same style) has been used in mag fed guns before. The mech is nothing new; it's just a trigger that has a part sticking back that is able to push up on and rotate a "spring" loaded hammer back. After a certain point, the trigger releases the hammer and the bit that sticks out resets so that it can slip past the hammer. The pawl and indexer are just there to rotate the cylinder- Loose chose to go with a mechanism closer to what is used on an actual revolver rather than the kind of cylinder that is common to other turret-loaded guns.
tytiger33 says: Jun 13, 2011. 11:28 AM
Could you give me links to the mag fed guns with a hammer?
Sketch98 says: Jun 17, 2011. 3:15 PM
If you had posted this three years ago, knex would be so much farther.

Ah.
Raz1r Knex Bull3t says: Jun 6, 2011. 5:23 PM
Just a question, do you know what range this gets? (I wouldn't expect it to go over 35 feet because of the design of how it functions) I'm just curious.
Loosewire; SOE Operative (author) says: Jun 7, 2011. 7:09 AM
It really depends on how heavy you are willing to have the trigger pull, horizontally I get about 25 feet with a pull I would describe as medium to relatively light (with one band) that allows for continuous rapid firing.
Really if you are going to make the pull very heavy you are better off saving your fingers as, although single handed, you will only get a ROF similar to a normal oodammo pistol.
knexinventer says: Jun 7, 2011. 6:59 AM
yay it is finished now i can bild it :)O:
Mepain says: Jun 6, 2011. 3:13 PM
well it's okay i guess i mean it just seems like the technology is like 4 years old or something.
Loosewire; SOE Operative (author) says: Jun 7, 2011. 6:41 AM
Hahaha!
Yeah, this is what I had KK working on back when I had him locked in my basement and people thought he was dead.
Raz1r Knex Bull3t says: Jun 6, 2011. 5:19 PM
What's cool about it though is you never have to wind it up, so it's not completely that old of technology. You would think that this has a cleaner design than ooda's semi-auto.
Raz1r Knex Bull3t says: Jun 6, 2011. 4:06 PM
Oh so this what you were talking about on KI. Yeah this thing is a beast. 5*s and fav. I forgot to sub you as well. This is a better clean design than ooda's you have to admit.
beanieostrich says: Jun 6, 2011. 12:51 PM
I might get around to building it sometime =D
