The reason for the pieces flying off is that u probably reached the full potential of knex grade plastic... to bad they don't have metal knex.

I know, that would be cool, that and they need to design more peices like telescoping peices.
Yeah most likely, still trying to make it strong as possible though. I could always use some JB Weld XD
Scratch my other project. I will make it a small engine. One that can sit on your desk, but still have all the general functions of a real engine. Pistons, Valves, Etc. Still needs to look great.
Pretty cool 5*
Speaking of small have you seen my V6?

Wait maybe the centrifugal force is just causing the pieces to fly off...
Knex doesn't sell the big yellow gears anymore. I dont have any either, thats one of the things I need to start building again too, for the fly wheel, and the quad cams.
Well. Atm I can't really continue. My knex box is virtually empty. And by yellow gears I need maybe 4 Big yellow gears ( I found a website online) for the smaller yellow gears for the cam shaft (Quad over head cams) I need at least 10. Lmao.
Also I plan on fixing the crank shaft for high speeds. No more pieces exploding. :)

Its one thing to have a knex engine break apart a high speeds but its another to have to pick the pieces out of your hand. Good luck finding the rest of the gears you need! : )
I will once I finish it. I'm having trouble getting the money at my age haha

will this have valves? if so, this will be the best knex engine I have seen!!
Yup, I do plan on making valves. Infact, thats my next thing i build when i get my knex pieces.

I built something like this a year back with my brother and i put it on full rpm (1250) and it literally exploded apart.... one of the cylinders flew off and its balance went way off and started to roll.... that broke 7 pieces in just one try
O_O
WOW
And how'd you bring even above 500rpm? If that. LOL

well it was really simple not as complicated as yours but it was pretty big.... i dont know i think it might have exploded before it reached full rmp..... i started it up slowly.... i should rebuild it and take a video
Other people were building engines out of knex, I also seen a cool lego one. I thought I'd do my best to build a thick, realistic as possible engine. Plus transmission (Manual)

***SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM*** what i think is happen ing is its going to fast for the tan clip, so add two tan clips where the other goes, to add two tan clips place one on the right of what it sticks into and one on the left. if this works please tell me!!! hope it helps 5*

Ohhhhh, i have anoter idea, you do what i said in my last idea and then saw of the end of the rod but still having room for a tan clip and having a tiny bit of end on stopping the clip from falling off???
Mmmm, maybe. But I don't really like sawing of pieces even though I done it about 20 times already.
Maybe I'll use some JB weld XD
