Introduction: K'nex Bird Maze
so I got all of my k'nex pieces together and built this maze.
This is an instructable on how to build the maze that I built.
If you don't have enough k'nex pieces or more you should use this
instructable as a guideline to create a maze different than mine
Here is what you need:
-A lot of k'nex
-A lot of time
-A tame and calm bird between the size of a cockatiel and a lovebird if the bird is too big it might get stuck and if it is too small it may slip through the holes in the walls.
!Important! If you are going to build this bird maze and stick your bird in it the bird must be TAME and CALM it must not be scared of being in new places or else it might hurt itself in the bird maze. You also don't want a bird that chews a lot or it may ruin your k'nex and be sure to always supervise your bird whenever you put it in the maze DO NOT LEAVE IT ALONE IN THE MAZE!!!
First things first I didn't have enough pieces to complete this bird maze so I had to substitute some pieces for others if you look at the pieces in the picture below.
What you will need next is walls there are many variations of walls you can make the picture below will show just a few but I have used others not shown in the picture. Also remember if you come up with a new variation of your own make sure that the bird will not be able th escape or get its head stuck in the holes and spaces in the wall.
The picture below shows my most commonly used variations.(From left to right my favorite varations to lest favorite)
Now lets get to work on building the bird maze!!!
First make the trap door and the false walls.
!Inportant! You must not substitute any of the pieces for the trap door or the false walls!
Now make another trap door. Also you cannot substitute any pieces for this.
Look at all of the pictures on this step for instructions on how to make the trap door.
Now lets make the base of the bird maze. !Important! The positions of the blue/purple 3D connecters is important because if they are off then you will not be able to put the walls in the correct places.
Follow the pictures so that you know what you are doing.
(I have substituted some pieces)
OK now we will be working on the first floor.
Remember to make sure that you have all of the blue/purple 3D pieces in the correct positions.
Again follow the pictures so that you know what you are doing.
(I have substituted some pieces)
Now we will work on the second floor of the bird maze.
Again remember to make sure that all of the blue/purple connecters are in the correct positions as shown in the pictures and also follow the pictures so that you know what you are doing.
(Also I have substituted pieces)
Now we will work on the final floors of the bird maze which I call the bird tower. Don't worry you are almost done with the bird maze.
Again need I remind you follow the pictures so that you don't get lost, also make sure that the 3D connecters are in the exact same position as shown in the picture.
(Again I substituted some pieces)
This step will show you how to use the bird maze.
Now remember the bird must be tame and calm or else it may get hurt. It also can't be a chewer or else it may ruin your k'nex.
The bird must be between the size of a cockatiel and a lovebird
or else it may get its head stuch in the holes or stuck in the path. Make sure you can easily remove walls if your bird gets itself in trouble, needs a quick escape or you just want your bird back. Oh yeah, and always supervise your bird when it is in the bird maze and NEVER LEAVE IT ALONE IN THE BIRD MAZE!!!!!!
