Knex Heavy Cannon v2 - Mini

Well, due to popular demand I'm posting my second cannon, my v2/mini. If you don't already know, this is a mini version of this gun. As you may have already guessed, the biggest change to this version is that it is smaller and a lot more piece efficient. Everything else is the same, the shape, works, ammo (though a tadbit shorter) and looks.

The range for this gun is about 85 feet on average. Not bad. i would like to remind you though that the ranges on both my cannons are from the normal position, the range could be greatly increased by propping the front up higher.

If you cause any damage with this weapon, I will be in no way responsible. Just so you know. and Im serious, you could make some serious carnage with this!

No, but if you're gonna build it I would make these too. If its pieces you are worried about, you could build something like on the v4 or v1.

Hello,
I was wandering I would like to add this to my arsenal do you reckon however you could use the barrel design of the handheld (using rods) and apply it to this?

WOW!  I just finished it a few days ago!  works great.  Only problem is that the bow is a little weak.  Sometimes a rod pops out of a connector or something small like that.  I found a better way to string the bow so that the rubber bands are more secure.  I might post pics later.  The wheels are great, could have been stronger.  I still love it, though.  I made a smaller slug for it, so it now shoots 100+ feet!  It used almost all of my classic color knex connectors!  Well done, IAC!

Hey, Thanks so much! I'm glad you made it. Yeah, the bow on this one was probably its weak point, it only failed for me once, but I've heard of other people having more trouble. I'd love to see photos of the new ammo and any mods you made.

People build you stuff because it works and is awsome!  You also post excellent 'ibles.  On a different note, the pictures would not post on my review, so I deleted it.  I want to know if you can post instructables on a free acount.  The mane change I made is make sure all rubberbands are on purple or blue connectors.  I also took off the back wheels and replaced it with a skid, because the wheels got in the way when bracing while loading.  Lastly, I changed the red rods that held the wheels for the rubberbands to tan ones, since they don't flex as much.  Wow, thats a mouthful! =D  Makes more sense in the pictures.  So again, if I can post 'ibles on a free account, I'll show you the changes.  Thx!

Well it uses the same mech as the SR-V2, and can shoot pretty far because its one of those frictionless slingshot barrels. I will try to make a video, but it will be in a few days because i am going to london for 2 days.

Oh noes! That really sucks... Be sure to strech out the elastics very well beforehand. Also, go easy on it when loading, and if any structural parts look iffy then don't put all the elastics on. Renforcing it isn't too hard.

Yes, they are rubber bands. They are strings of eight. They are normal sized by themselves.

Uh... Yes, a gun. Its sort of like the BBKWG, but bigger, better looking, shoots yellows, more powerful and has pre-loadable removable mags. Im also going to try to put it a trigger design thats never been dome before as well. I put it on a sidearm, but it looked awful. Thats the plan, anyway.

Well, if you have small grey wheels you could use four instead of two or you could try just putting spacers in their place. I would say make the gun, and then repace the wheels as needed, Im sure it would not be too hard.

Sometimes, but it has aireodynamacy, so it makes it stay straight in the air. If it is shorter, it well go flipping around and cause much more air resestance and lose distance.

a made a simple mod (only uses 2 pieces to make loading a little easier)On the trigger you just add two 1slot connectors to each white rod white rod in the center by the grey spacers. They wont click in but push them in as far as they will go. this will make it so you dont have to line up the rod thats holds the ammo in with the ammo. You just have to slide it in as far as it will go and then lock the ammo in place. NO LINING UP!! If you have any questions feel free to ask

The first time I put all the bands on, it completely destroyed itself. I found one of the wheels one the bow 50 feet behind the main wreckage. I'll try and rebuild, but it's not looking good without starting again :'(. I used 8 strings of 6 #64s like you said.

Thanks! Sorry to hear about your other comment.. That happened to me once. You need to make sure that you really strech out the elastics beforehand, otherwise they will be too tight. Try with 6 strings or somthing for a start.

hey I was able to hold up the other one I walked around with it like a mini gun and shot rugs hanging on clothes lines. It made a loud noise! lol

no it's been destroyed after we shot it like 60 times. and broke 7 knex pieces that thing broke the tip off of a white rod clean off no bend marks or anything.

I made a dreadful mistake... I used 4 strings of 6 instead of 8... just fixed it though! But I missed to pillows I was aiming for, and the ammo blew up...

Yeah, It tends to do that.. a lot.. Might not be a great Idea for indoor use. Have you seen the two new videos I added? they are the top two.

Yep! Strnght will not be as good though. MAke sure to make the rubber band strings shorter if you do that though
