first of all, brass knuckles are ILLEGAL. second, that piece of crap will hurt you more then your opponent. so my suggestion is, just use your hands, they might actually do something instead of getting your fingers snapped in half.

well, you were on the right track though, im not a big fan of brass knuckles but heres an image of how i think you can make a pretty good one. i based my idea on the supplies you used to make yours, so if you want to do it, you should already have them. the image is small, so save it and open it in image viewer, or whatever macs use if you have a mac.

Why illegalized if its a self defence against criminals.

Learn to fight. Wait, you don't know how, that's the reason you need a weapon. If you need a weapon, it's not called fighting.

That was honestly my first impression of this.I've only known three people who own actual knuckle dusters and they can't fight for s***. Duels are the only times weapons should be used and we just don't have that kind of bada**ery anymore.

Not if the dumbass has his back turned when I get him!!
Dec 3, 2009. 6:32 PMYerboogieman says:
Well, if the "dumbass" has his back turned he is stupid and he probably has a BlackJack that will do so much more damage than some stupid "knuckle duster".

This is gonna hurt your hand big time. Might even break fingers. I prefer my tool, even if it isn't handmade. Go google "hatch sp 100 defender glove." It's a leather/spandex glove with 8 ounces of steel shot sewn into the knuckles. You can also go to youtube, put my name in the search box, and watch a vid of me breaking a concrete patio block with them.

I really can't say I like this one. If you want the upper hand when having a punch up with someone, just try the old "Hey! What's that up there!?" trick, then kick them in the nads and run home.

no offense, but you'd be better off fighting with a toothpick.

Ultimately this chain will hurt your hand and if you use it. And if you don’t know how to punch the chance of hitting someone in a fight with it and to cause them more pain than your self is remote due to the fact you would need to hit them in the face to achieve the same lack of padding you have. If you hit someone in the arm or shoulder (I say this because I assume they will be defending themselves at the same time) they will likely to be wearing clothes (heaven forbid a Jacket) and all you will achieve is injuring your hand and reducing your effectiveness to defend yourself due to no protection for your hand.. This is why the commercial options are molded

exactly i like the way u think Daveo

you should put 4 nails. that would make more of an impact.

The tool is called a chain breaker and I was able to find one at Northern tool, although they may be found at other places.

You said, "I am not responsible for any injurys/deaths that happen as a result of this instructable being made", but what do you think the purpose of knuckle dusters is? Their, and any other weapon's, soul purpose is to inflict injury/death. If I could give this instructable a 0, I would.
Dec 9, 2008. 1:46 PMbaneat says:
Wouldn't it make more sense to just use the chain itself to fight with?
Nov 18, 2008. 4:49 PMUnearthly says:
You can kill someone with a blow from your fist if you do it right, this would infact do some damage but its going to hurt your hand pretty bad unless you pad it
Nov 8, 2008. 6:30 PMl3wk says:
this is just a wild guess but i dont think that would hurt anyone other than yourself and certinally no deaths could result from being hit with that as is is a nail and some chain
Jul 30, 2008. 9:50 AMtstartrekdude says:
the tool you where talking about that your frend has is a chain breaker, it pushes the pin out of the center of the link on the chain. and you can get one at any bike shop for $20 or at wall mart for $5 in there cheep bike tool kit.

Ill like to see you hit someone with that, your knuckle danage would be worst than what you generate. Plus, why would you go around with something like that? peace!
Feb 12, 2008. 9:54 AMmas-retals says:
i agree u should buy a nuckle duster and solder a quater cut nail on too the end of it then sow a belt to the open end that sits on your palm that way you can still use it and the police can only confiscate it and no prosicution.

I like the belt idea. I think instead of actually sewing it, have some false stitching for looks, but have the belt just snap to itself around the palm piece, that way you can take it off in a jiff.

well you could just put it round your waist instead of actually using it as a belt so its easy to come off
May 13, 2008. 9:56 PMEnigmaMax says:
i think what he meant is that when you're on the ground with thugs making you bleed in every corner, you're not gonna be able to pull off your belt.
Apr 6, 2008. 2:57 AMmas-retals says:
well try army shops if you live in america i wouldnt think it would be that be that hard to find one or a belt buckle thats shaped like one. i hope this helped

If you're going to make a knuckle duster at all, I'd suggest you make a 2 inch by 8 or 10 strip of chainmaille and connect the ends, then wrap some cloth around between it and your knuckles. If you really need to do damage with it i guess you could use some small stubby spikes, but a normal nail wouldn't be very effective.

Here's a link to a chainmaille Instructable:

Just put a carabeaner on your hand as if it was a knuckleduster with the little part that is on a hinge and move inside you fist and walla, a knuckle duster.
