The key was self-control. I had utter self control over everything I ate, drank and avoided. This is where the hard part is. Making decisions for yourself and not becoming influenced by outside factors. (Friends, co-workers, outings, family, etc.) Sad factor: I could have done this exact routine without having the surgery. Horrible factor: I've dropped those good habits and sunk back into the old ways and gained weight again. I lost the self control to keep those same routines.
Just stick with this system and you will be losing weight. I am on my way back to the system because I want to be back where I was before.

Never reward yourself with food. Reward yourself with an object, a new piece of clothing, an outing. If you default to food, you're just getting involved with eating as a positive event. Food is only meant to nourish you. If you think of food as a necessity instead of an adventure, you're already breaking down your addiction to eating.
This is for me, but maybe if you'd like to be as hardcore as myself - you can go by this rule also : Be okay with eating the same thing all the time. (The way I justify this is by thinking of cavemen, they only had the same animals to eat, but maybe they thought of eating them in different ways. But they still lived on!)

I have MS so my exercise is limited. For the first year, I generally drank fruit juice and mineral water and my weight loss surgeon DEMANDED I drank only diet drinks, which I then did...and stopped losing weight altogether..so went back to juice...and resumed losing weight
Only protein I can eat easily are eggs..until this year I have been unable to eat red meat at all..and STILL can't eat sliced meats at all. If I am successful in eating meat, its usually if its got a high fat content, as for some reason it goes down easily..lean meat, not a chance.
I can eat chicken..as long as it has a sauce on it
For the first TWO YEARS, I couldn't eat bread AT ALL..I couldn't eat raw vegetables, not even crisp vegies. Couldn't eat salad; couldn't even stomach a banana..yeah, the lapband is perverse! I found it much easier to eat foods that are bad for you. I used dermination to stick to the 'good' foods..and after 2 years, had lost a lot..but for the last 6 to 7mths of that 2 years, I lost NOTHING.
I gave up..stopped counting calories, stopped weighing myself..sacked my weight loss surgeon, and got to the task of living. 4 mths later my husband made me weigh myself, cos he could see the weight loss..and I actually resisted cos I didn't want to know. To my amazement, I had lost 10kgs (22lbs)
Since I started eating what I wanted, when I wanted. Since I stopped worrying if it was good or bad, I have lost 27kgs (60lbs)..in a year.
And I eat when I am hungry..and I'm always hungry..can't eat lots mind you..so I eat small meals, more often..sometimes 6 time a day. I graze like crazy.
A 'plan' doesn't always work for everyone..and did you know that 45% of people who have a lapband put ON weight?
Anyways, I think my weight loss is because early on in the lapband life, I was eating nothing...pretty much...and metabolism shut down completely..then I started eating more..and it kicked into gear. Before all that..don't know. Maybe it was on strike.
now I got it ,, why you don't a cupcakes fan are :D
