Maybe if you used some paper, like card stock, to divide each LED from each other, the Image would be clearer. Use Tall Black card stock in a webbed frame so it slides over the LEDs.

I've already troubleshooting my project and my problem is that the leds won't light on. I've already checked the circuit and everything is perfectly the same with yours like in the circuit. Sometimes it would just blink about a four them. Can you give me some advice? Thank you.

I'm already troubleshooting my project but the leds won't light on. I've checked my circuit and everything seems right according to the schematic you've provided. By the way, sometimes the some of the leds would just blink, about four of them specially the one whose connected to row 2. Can you give me some advice. Thank you.

Hi, Good day! I'm trying to make your project and I'm in the middle of checking the connectivity of the circuit you've provided. Everything seems fine but I was confused because everytime I measure the resistance between the ground (-) and the supply(5v+) there is a reading, meaning it is short circuited. Is it ok? or should I check my circuit?

I checked mine, and I got 140k across +5 & ground. That doesn't mean its shorted, if you have continuity( 0 resistance) between positive and ground that would mean a short. Check how the switch is wired, and ensure all the 10k pull ups are connected to the right polarity.

Carpespasm: Youtube video Link on step 1 Computerwiz: Those LEDs aren't bright enough to project, there are no Premade displays that are thats why one has to be made(used 55k mcd LEDs, though i built and tested it with a premade 5x7 array from Digikey)

I ordered one of those small displays, and did this with it. It worked fine... The display was shining across my living room.

Flipping top for bottom, and flipping left for right means you've rotated the display 180 degrees.... However, if the display was permanently mounted before noticing that it was optically rotated, flipping both axes would effectively rotate the display.

If you order one of those elcheapo LED Belt Buckles off ebay, you can do this. It saves you a ton of soldering and fancy stuff... Nice idea!

Like I said Ii was shooting it about 15ft to a ceiling at a party not to long ago, it wasn't bright but still readable. I was thinking if I could get a large enough lens, some 3watt star LEDs would be do the trick for large outside projection. On the video it shows the letters about 16-18" from 4 ft, it goes up from there but readable for 10-20ft in semi-darkness. Mine is quite portable(it was designed for partys). its 10"x3"X5", once a message is programmed all it needs is to be plugged into a mains.

Can see that this might make an interesting concept for projecting your own additions to billboards etc. What sort of range and letter height are you able to get? Did you try smaller LEDs at all to see about getting the size of the unit down to make it more portable?
