Skin your rodent as described in the Mouse Taxidermy Instructable, leaving the arm and leg bones attached. Clean, wrap, and wire these bones in the same fashion; you may use the thicker wire if you're working with a big rat.

Note that rat connective tissue is stronger than that of a mouse, and their bones are bigger and heavier. It will probably take you a good bit longer to prepare your rat until you get used to these differences.

Oh god people, get off your high horse already. This is not different than stuffed heads or stuffed animals at the museum. So he put LED's in its eyes, so what? if not led they put glass eyes in stuffed animals  same difference. To the "Insanity and Sickness" poster: Get over yourself already.

All that off my chest, i have to say that while i wouldnt do it myself since i think skinning the animal is gross, if i ever got this as a present or found one i would think it was hilarious!

oh no I think this is bad..way to bad there should be a law for people who do this so you can't. id love to see you eat it. i do wear leather and I do eat meat but playing with something like that is not right. no no no darcy will be put in the grave with everything she was born with unless i eat her.

Just because display has the word "play" in it doesn't mean they are actually playing with it. The rat is dead, not alive. If you have a problem with this, I'd like to see how well you fair in a beef butchery. The place where all your leather and meat comes from. The place where conditions are far less sanitary, and animals are often alive when processes take place. Besides, it says right in the beginning "Be warned, this is another extremely graphic tutorial featuring guts...." Funny that I'm defending the taxidermy, but I'm also a vegetarian :]
