I have made this LED torch for my small camping using an old Nokia BL5C battery. It is rechargeable and gives sufficient lighting for dark outdoors.

Step 1: Gathering Required Materials

1. SMD LED (5730/5630 ) Warm white

2. PCB for mounting LED

3. One TP4056 Li-lon Battery Charger with battery protection

4. Nokia Battery - BL-5C

5. 22 ohms resistor

6. One empty hearing aid battery case for housing the compnent

7. Switch

Step 2: Soldering SMD LED's to PCB

Solder the SMD LED's to the PCB shown at the start.

Step 3: Connect Them All Together

Connect them all together as per the circuit shown in the picture.

Step 4: Fitting Everything Into the Case

Fit every thing in to the case. You will need to modify the case to fit battery and make necessary cuts to access usb charging and switch.

Step 5: Charge It Using Any USB Charger

Charge it with any USB 5 Volt charger.

Step 6: Final Product

It's done. It draws around 60 mA of current. The light lasts for more than 18 hours once fully charged.

Cool DIY flashlight. It might be fun to see how big you can make it. It should be a simple issue of just adding more LEDs.

Yes you can add as many as you want until you keep the discharge current under battery's capacity. However it will decrease the total run time.

One other alternate can be SMD LED strips like in the image.
