The trunk shape is important and the first step in choosing your project. Band saw skills are a good thing to have when cutting out the box drawers. I am going to provide pics if I can get them to load. I have never sent pics on the web yet and I don't know how this works. Wish me luck. The LEDs are the next pics to come.
OK, I have sorted out the wiring and replaced all the hairlike wires with some good solid stereo wire. The soldering was a bit hairy but patience and persevearance (sp.) won out!
I have added new pics with the LEDs on and it looks really cool with the lights turned down! I'm not an electrical engineer but I am pretty good with a pencil point soldering iron and some silver solder. The circuit is pretty straightforward. You just have to go one wire at a time and remove the flimsy hairlike wire that came with the LED setup.
I added about 10" of single wire in place of the old wires.
This gives flexability to whereever you want to place your LEDs.
All I have to do now is apply a finish to the wood, glue the two towers together and enjoy it until I give it away as a gift.
The parts list is simple: stereo wire, solder, any jewelery box you choose, LED kit (I got mine from parts of a childs wand at the $1 tree store (Pound store for UK) The 3 button batteries come with it, as well as 5 LEDs, total Voltage output
is 4.5 V., the 3 mode chip is already programmed for the LEDs to either flash fast, scan, or blink slowly, a soft button switch is also inlcluded. For one dollar and tax its pretty awesome and inexpensive! Any questions mates? Good Luck!
