Introduction: Lady Gaga Cigarette Glasses

Picture of Lady Gaga Cigarette Glasses

Want to be lady gaga this Halloween? One of the most interesting costume props in the lady gaga universe is the cigarette glasses featured in her "Telephone" video. The glasses she used are actually on fire, which will not be good for all night Halloween romps.

I decided to recreate the smoking effect, using cornstarch! These glasses will look cool and smoke all night long.

Special Thanks to Culturespy and Carleyy

Step 1: Supplies

Picture of Supplies

For this project you will need:
1 pair of large sunglasses
3 ft of plastic tubing
1 ear syringe
1 pack of sugru
1 pack of cigarettes

I used real cigarettes but they were messy and smelly. If i were going to do this again, i'd get some of these instead: Fake Cigarettes

Step 2: The Smoking Aparatus Pt 1

Picture of The Smoking Aparatus Pt 1

In lady gaga's telephone video she is wearing smoking cigarette glasses. I wanted to recreate this effect without actually lighting cigarettes on fire.

For this i used plastic tubing, corn starch and an ear syringe.

Step 3: The Smoking Aparatus Pt 2

Picture of The Smoking Aparatus Pt 2

First i cut a hole in the ear syringe so i could put cornstarch in more easily. I filled the hole with sugru to create a plug.

Next i attached the plastic tubing to the end with hot glue and filled the ear syringe with cornstarch.

Step 4: Create the Glasses

Next you want to create the cigarette glasses.

I cut the cigarettes so they fit nicely on the glasses and filled the ends with hot glue so tobacco wouldn't go everywhere.

Then i hot glued the cigarettes to the glasses like so, leaving a bit of space so you can actually see.

Step 5: Attach the Tube to the Glasses

Lastly i attached the tube to the glasses with a bunch of hot glue. My glasses had holes in the front, so i pushed the tubing through that and hot glued it in. The cigarettes on the side hide it a bit.

Step 6: Be Lady Gaga

This is pretty easy, Just use the puffer to activate the "smoke".

You could use cornstarch or baby powder in the puffer to get the good effects!

Just add other costume elements and you can have your own costume from the "telephone" video!

Step 7: Optional Step: Don't Smoke, OK?

Maybe some of you are smokers, i sure am not. But i also had some extra cigarettes, so i decided to do a quick public service announcement.

You're Welcome

Smoking is gross... Who agrees?

blanchae (author)2012-10-31

I agree - DON'T SMOKE. I lost my father last month to COPD which is directly related to him smoking 2 packs a day for 35 years. He regretted having ever smoked for the last 15 years. The last year of his life was spent just trying to breath, it is a slow awful death spiral.

I made a slidetape for his celebration of life and the worst part was seeing a pack of cigarettes in his shirt pocket in almost ever picture. That was like an insult and pissed me off!

instead of real smokes - which are $10/pack for premium brands, $8 for secondary market, and $25/carton off the reserve if you're in canada - you could buy the tubes and that little packing widget and, again, fill the tube with whatever will take it.

shredded mint, f.ex, for a menthol effect.

nice for you but I will rather to smoke the cigarrettes than waste them like this
however it is creative what have u done

rhino777 (author)2010-10-30

Nice! FYI in the video the filters point toward the middle though...

killerjackalope (author)2010-10-11

You could buy a packet of rolling papers, which are pennies as opposed to the fake cigarettes, then roll pretty much any material that'll roll like cotton wool or some such.

Broom (author)killerjackalope2010-10-12

Sure, but getting them rolled evenly might be a real pain for someone who doesn't do it regularly. Easier to cough up $3 (or whatever they are now) for a pack.

ACK! Did I just recommend NOT MAKING something? Banish me!

masterochicken (author)Broom2010-10-12

$3? It's usually around 5 bucks a pack in my area!

$7 in ours.

frenzy (author)killerjackalope2010-10-11

good idea but i really wanted the traditional filter look

AngryRedhead (author)frenzy2010-10-11

You can buy empty filtered cigarettes for really cheap.

I was going to mention those, you get them in loads of places...

Like head shops...

I wonder what will happen if I wear these to a school Halloween party... :D

they should open a lady gaga contest

tfrost1980 (author)2010-10-15

I've seen several women on here re creating the tranny outfits of lady gaga, my question is, is she really that big of a star?

AngryRedhead (author)2010-10-11

It looks like a bulb syringe for sucking the snot out of baby noses...

frenzy (author)AngryRedhead2010-10-11

well it is, so you win!

Broom (author)frenzy2010-10-12

Careful, Reynolds executives might be reading. Next thing you know, they'll offer pre-tobacco-filled baby nose syringes.

lafnbear (author)2010-10-11

OK, but all the recent Lady Gaga 'ibles beg the (every pun intended...) burning question: what the hell is Lady Gaga planning to wear for Halloween?

Broom (author)lafnbear2010-10-12

Jeans and a t-shirt.
