I cut the neoprene so that when the bag is folded together it forms the interior of the bag. One of the final steps is to adhere it to the rubber mat with contact cement. Added some fabric spacers to allow a little air under the powerbook, which can get bloomin hot let me tell ya!

Here's a trick. After prepping both sheets with adhesive and letting it dry, lay a neutral layer of material over the bottom sheet. By neutral, I mean something that won't stick to your adhesive. If you can find teflon sheets, post the source here. I usually settle for waxed paper, or simple drafting paper. Then lay the top sheet - glue down, over the neutral membrane, sandwiching it in between. This allows you to accurately position the top without the glue sticking. Next you slide out the membrane while keeping top and bottom in register. For areas this big, two or four smaller sheets may work better. Position, then fold the top sheeet back. Remove one membrane, return the top sheet back in place and press. Repeat with each remaining sheet. Much easier to do, than explain.
