Laser Tattoo

Step 5Soothe that burning sensation...

Soothe that burning sensation...
... with a bit of aloe.

I noticed that creams, lotions, or aloe help soothe the burn, but kill the contrast.

Make your choice.

Some of the comments over on Engadget said stuff about cancer....is that possible from this? And will the etching last forever, or is it a short term display?

Hi Krammer, I work with these machines and I would say 'very probably not'. The laser is a CO2 laser. That means mid infra-red so there is no UV. I think some people are thinking that it might be 'altering' the skin like sunburn. Its not, its burning the top layers of skin away. Thermal process. Its the same as branding with irons

Er...branding with irons goes a lot deeper, from what I understand. It's a full-thickness burn.

Actually this process does go that deep. I will post a pic of mine if I get around to it. On mine I have actually cut back several layers of skin. It might not scar, it looks too neat! Got a nice square edge to it.

What?! You cut your skin? Seriously?

couldn't you cover that area with tat ink; run the laser, and have a permanent inked laser cut tattoo, where the un-scarred inked would was away?

or you could ice it for like half an hour so it would be numb.
Jul 7, 2008. 5:10 PMxenobiologista says:
By the way, you can get topical anaesthetics like EMLA (eutectic mixture of lidocaine and prilocaine) on the internet to numb your skin BEFORE the laser.

Er... I don't think that would be such a great idea.

But then, if one is actually stupid enough to sear one's flesh with a freaking LASER they probably don't care about the whole point of pain anyways. No offense, TNT.
