Step 3: The designs

We first designed each product using 2D design v2 on our school computers, each design is then exported as a .DXF file, which in turn, is opened on the pc connected to the laser cutter using APS-Ethos . (these programs are used by the school).

Once the .DXF file has been opened in APS-Ethos, it is simply a matter of ensuring the design is the right size, assigning vectors to cut/engrave, loading the acrylic onto the laser cutter (setting origin/media), and cutting as many as is needed.

Below is a short video of the laser cutter cutting some snowflakes out of white frosted acrylic.
