Learn About Mid-Century Modern Design

Learn About Mid-Century Modern Design (Eames Era)

This is where modern design started folks, make sure to watch the whole video!

All makers, mod'ers, and builders should definitely research mid-century modern design.

I WILL BE UPDATING THIS PAGE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS SO BE SURE TO CHECK BACK!

This was my Sociology final at the Art Institute of Seattle, so it was kinda rushed. There are typos, mispronunciations, etc. I would love to re-do it! There were only two of us and we made this video from scratch in about two weeks: brainstorming idea, library research, script, scans (almost everything in the video was scanned from a book), voice-over, editing, classroom presentation (we got an applause). It was alot of fun. Finally, Yes, I know Eames was mispronounced.

Enjoy!

It's just called "mid-century modern" because most of the notable designers and furniture designs are from the late 20's to say the 60's. Anyone who collects furniture (in my case chairs), will undoubtedly know the early contributions of companies like Thonet and the school of Bauhaus. It's just a term for lumping furniture together. "Modern" is not the same as "contemporary" or "mid-century modern."

You should note that modern design starts much earlier in Dessau, Germany at Bauhaus.
