Introduction: Leather Thumb Drive Case

A travel case for 4 usb thumb drives made from leather.

Step 1: Materials

1. Scrap Leather

2. Leather Punch

3. Pen

4. Scissors

5. Velcro

6. Rivets

7. Hot Glue Gun

8. Key ring with clip

Step 2: Cutting the Leather Out

NOTE: This travel case is for 4 thumb drives

Cut out two 3 1/2" squares of leather

Next, Cut a 3 1/2" X 2 1/2" strip of leather for the connecting piece

After that, on the 3 1/2" pieces find the middle and mark with a pen

Step 3: Measure the Thumb Drive Pockets

Cut out two 2 1/4" X 5" strips of leather and three holes on the sides and middle.

Step 4: Punching the Holes

Punch holes on the 3 1/2" squares with the photos

I punches 5 holes along the sides and three to fit the 2 1/4" piece from earlier.

On the 2 1/2" strip punch 5 holes to fit the square pieces

Rivet together the pieces

Step 5: Putting the Pockets On

Once riveted together flip the leather.

Take the 5" X 2 1/4" and rivet it to the square pieces bending it to make pockets with rivets

Step 6: Hot Glue!

Hot glue the bottom of the pockets so the thumb drives don't fall out

Step 7: Attaching the Key Ring

On the inside, take the pin and mark where you would like the ring to be placed

Punch holes with the leather punch and loop the ring through

Step 8: Attaching the Velcro

Take two velcro squares and stick them to the pockets

Check to see if they stick together right

Step 9: Put in Your Thumb Drives!

Check to see if everything lines up and use your thumb drive!

Awesome work and looks really good. Definitely giving this one a go but a little bigger so it could be a potion bottle holder for LARP ;-)

Only thing I'd do different is the pocket that the USB stick goes in too. I wouldn't just glue it because eventually that glue will wear off and split open and out drops the USB stick.

But if you were to cut an upside down V at the bottom of the leather pockets and then stitch the bottom of the pocket to the back piece that way it will never drop out.

great ideas! I honestly was going to rivet the bottom but ran out of rivets so I had to hot glue them. Once I order more I'll rivet the bottom so it won't come loose, as you said. Thanks for the comment!!

oh ye riveting would do the trick and would probably look better, more in keeping with everything and also a lot faster than hand stitching. Nice one :-)
