Items Needed:

- 1"x2"x8' wood board

- 10x10 Lego base plate or compatible

- saw

- drill

- screws

- paint

- glue

- x-acto knife

--------------------------------------------------

First we chose a wall near the door because it is easy to see in the room and fast to grab when heading out. And with this shelving design, a small wall works great too. We started with 3 shelves to hold most of his favorite characters but this design can be expanded easily for future growth.

The shelves are 15 inches wide and constructed from 6 pieces cut from a 1"x2"x8' board.

Taking 2 pieces and putting then into an "L" shape allowed for securing with screws in the bottom. Drilling pilot holes is good idea for this design and prevents cracking.

My wife then painted each one white to match the wall.

For the Lego strips I had to cut up a 10x10 base plate into two-peg wide sections. And since the shelves are 15" wide, I only needed 1-1/2 strips per level. I used an x-acto knife for this task.

When gluing, it is wise to hold the separate pieces together with a Lego block to get the correct spacing.

I then found the studs in the wall, drilled some more pilot holes and attached each shelf with 2 screws. Adding a touch of paint to each screw head will hide them.

And now my son can display and enjoy his Lego characters with everyone.
