Lift-up ladder (escalera levadiza)

Lift-up ladder (escalera levadiza)

For years I needed a place in my home to work. I did it in the sun porch or in the patio, but that was really a problem for all, especially for me. The place is small, and with my job I kept it always messy and dirty, even picking up the tools and materials after complete a project. In addition, not having my stuff in the workplace caused me countless delays, unsuccessful searches, moodiness, etc.

Finally, after many discussions, deliberations and consultations, I decided to do demolish a small shed of about 2x3 m was in the backyard, and in its site build a workshop of about 3x4 m with attic. Not much, but compared to what I had, is a lot.

To reduce costs, I asked the builders to give me the rough work, the walls with a coarse cover, and the attic without a ladder, with only an access area at one end.

While the builders work, I set about making two shelves, one of 2x2 m and another 2x1.3 m, serving simultaneously as work tables. The shelves are semi-hard wood, eucalyptus saligna 1 inch, mounted on iron brackets and guides welded and bolted to the wall.

Once I had the shop in my possession, I lead me urgently to build the ladder, and I decided to make it lifting to take up no place when in use. As always, I gave priority to functionality over aesthetics, and in this case also put emphasis on safety precautions to prevent future accidents.

Since the project was successful, then I give the details, if any of you are interested in doing something similar. It is not difficult, although takes a week or so.

Your English is fine :)

I have not had any problems understanding your posts.

As they say a picture can tell a thousand words, and you always add enough pictures to make things easily understood.

I take my hat off to you sir.

Keep up the great work.

Osvaldo,

Very clever. Your welded fixtures always look better than mine. Your English shows a few small evidences that it is not your native language. Once in a while your translator program gives you a word that can translate the original word, but may not be the one a native speaker would use. But, we understand just fine. We are only grateful that we do not need to publish our Instructables in Spanish!
