Who does, really?
The only problem is that she tends to lose her favorite brand of balm. We must have spent $100 so far, and she has yet to finish a single tube.
In an effort to help, I attached it to her keys. Now she has it when she needs it.
Step 1: What You Will Need:
Heavy duty thread
Lip balm with a screw- on cap
Step 2: Poke Some Holes in the Cap.
You may need to use the needle-nose pliers to push the needle through the cap. It doesn't take a great deal of effort.
While the needle is in sticking in the plastic, make nice wide circles to open up the holes. The holes should be big enough that the needle should easily pass through the hole, eye and all.
Step 3: Do Some Sewing.
Tie off the thread.
I used a woven thread, so I melted the end with a lighter to keep from fraying.
Step 4: Attach the Key Ring.
Avoid faying the thread.
Note: Pliers are not necessary for this step, They're just holding every thing up so I could take the picture.
Step 5: Attach to Keys.
Screw the cap onto the balm and you're all done!
I found a spring-loaded hasp because my wife requested that she be able to easily take the whole assembly off her key ring. It is not necessary.
I have only done this with one brand of balm. I suspect that it will work on others, depending on the material the cap is made of. If the cap is made of a harder plastic, you can heat the needle to make the holes.
Hope you found this instructable useful.
Thanks and Enjoy!
