I love this idea! Since you already will have castor oil if you make this recipe, you should try making your own mascara to! Here are the basics: http://www.pantryspa.com/free-recipe/enchanting-eyes/natural-clear-mascara/76/index.html I like to add funky colors of mica powder to make the coolest colors of mascara!

This looks like a fun, rewarding project. Kinda' like making lotion, in that it can be finished in a day. Cool. Just a note that parrafin is a byproduct of petroleum. Another is mineral oil. Thought you'd want to know. Weissensteinburg, let's start some colonies, and don't give them sugar water--it makes them weak. They like to have some sea salt in the water you make available for them. This from my mom who's been hosting bee hives for 5 yrs. And, plant flowers that they like. Are there instructables about beekeeping, I wonder ??

I love your instructables, schoomaroo! I am 'big' on eliminating any personal care product from my regime that includes petroleum product(s), so I really enjoyed this. So few people seem to care that they're absorbing toxic crap through their skin everyday, but I definitely sympathize with the need to keep it thrifty, and this recipe takes care of both!

I used to make something similar years ago. Beeswax set up firmer, paraffin was softer as I recall. A bit of old lipstick gives a nice tint. I used baby oil--nice scent and it's just mineral oil. Perhaps not food grade, but I never had any trouble with it. Melted the concoction in an old clean glass jar set into a pot of hot water. Stir with a wooden chopstick, then pour into vessel of choice.

I forgot to do this with my peppermint oil and when I added orange to that, I created chemical weaponry.

You should try some tea tree oil and peppermint oil in combination.

Hmm, maybe I should try it; my wife is always on to me to trim those buggers... think it would ruin my mustache too, though?

You are all over these DIY beauty products. Watch your dependence on beeswax, too, though. They may be gone before the oil is.
