Loaded Cookie Bars

Introduction: Loaded Cookie Bars

Do you have leftover Oreos and M&Ms? Do you have a spare 10 minutes? If you answered yes to both of these questions, then this is the recipe for you! This is a simple, easy recipe for loaded cookie bars.

For this recipe you will need:

1/2 Cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 cup light brown sugar, packed

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 cup all purpose flour

18 Oreo cookies, coarsely chopped

1/2 cup M&Ms

Non-stick baking spray, aluminum foil, 8x8 baking dish

-You can add ingredients such as marshmallows or other candies to this recipe if you'd like.

Step 1:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a 8x8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil.

Step 2:

Melt the butter in microwave safe bowl.

-This will take about one minute depending on the strength of the microwave.

Step 3:

Add the egg, brown sugar, and vanilla and whisk until smooth.

-Make sure the butter has cooled down before adding the egg so it doesn't get scrambled.

Step 4:

Add the flour and stir until just combined.

-Do not overmix the batter as this will cause it to become dense.

Step 5:

Stir in the Oreos.

Step 6:

Spray the baking dish with the baking spray, and pour the batter into the dish.

-Use a spatula to evenly spread the mixture in the dish.

Step 7:

Sprinkle the M&Ms on top of the cookie mixture.

-Use your fingers or the spatula to slightly press the M&Ms into the dough.

Step 8:

Bake for 20-22 minutes.

-This time may vary slightly depending on if other ingredients were added to the mixture. The top should be set and the edges should be firm. A toothpick can be inserted into the center of the bars, and if it comes out clean, they are done!

Step 9:

Allow the bars to cool for about 20-30 minutes before cutting.

Step 10:

Serve and enjoy!

I love the idea of throwing in marshmellows....or anything else I feel like. Mmmmmm, I'll let you know how it turns out.

They look delicious, the children will love them, they might be sweet but great for an occasional treat.

    Looks really tasty!!

I looked at this, and my mind went

These look so tasty! Too bad I've been on a healthy kick lately.
